E9 Front and rear coil springs

I'm refurbishing my gray E9 and it seems that I will need to replace all four coil springs, does anyone now where to source them?

there are the Carl Nelson lowering springs from Lajolla Independent which are widely used - these are straight springs (non-progressive).
there are progressive springs available from Paul Baker in the UK.

if i was buying new springs, i love the idea of progressive springs.
 
The progressive springs from Germany suffer from terrible coil bind.

I greased mine and they quietened down, but hesitate to call them progressive. The shorter pitch coils are fully compressed at all times! PB springs next.
 
The best progressive springs were the Mangold springs that he had manufactured by Eibach. They also came with ABE for German TÜV.
Unfortunately, no longer available since he passed away...
I have them in my Yellowbird.

Exactly the problem. Coils are bound.
Csl progressive springs are completely different. The gauge changes.
 
i believe the Paul Baker springs are CSL progressive springs that i believe he makes. hopefully @Paul Baker will see this and respond to what his springs are.
 
Interesting - this may well explain the odd twanging noises I've been getting from the front end after I fitted my lowering springs .......

Correct. I have them and they are the best springs I've tried on the coupe. The progressive aspect makes them absorb the smaller bumps while providing great handling for curved roads.

One word of caution: They are currently designed for the lighter CSL. So a heavier CS/CSi car will tend to sit a bit low, especially in the rear. I am happy with the front but at the very least, the 3 dot spacers are required in the rear. And @HB Chris also has an additional spacer of top of that I believe.

this is great feedback on the product. it might be worth talking to Paul about making one that is designed for the CS / CSi ... i have the feeling it would become the defacto coupe standard.
 
I had a set of the german ones but just didn't like them. Fitted a set of springs from Paul on a customer car, they really are top notch and highly recommended!

I had discussed that with him and he said it sounded like it would be a good idea. But he was pretty busy at the time (about a year ago?) so I don't know if he's made any progress on it. @Paul Baker
 
I like the ride of his springs but they have apparently been designed for RHD City Pack coupes so that doesn’t explain why a 73 US coupe would sit that low.

I just gifted my CN springs to a very patient friend. I was planning on a set of Stefan’s springs. I would love to get a set from Paul Baker now that I have a better understanding of the progressives that are out there. How does one go about ordering from Paul?

I sent an email to [email protected] and they sent an invoice to pay. I used Wise to do the conversion instead of paypal due to their much more up to date conversion rates and fees.
 
I messaged Paul and he sent me some info but said he isn't currently shipping to the US due to tariffs, etc. Looks like at least a few of us interested are in the PNW. I have a friend in Vancouver who comes to Seattle weekly for work - I could have a few of these shipped to him and then have him bring them south if @Markos and @Pittraider18 were interested in a group buy. Maybe we then need to have an installation party. I don't have the tools to install these, but glancing over at the 2002 forum, one of the first "here's how I installed them" threads was from a guy in South Seattle who was willing to lend another user his light duty spring compressor tool...
 
Since I'm awake in the early morning hours it's mid-day for Paul in the UK so we have been exchanging information. He is fine with me sharing this price list here, although he appropriately commented that this price list can change over time, especially the shipping amounts

I asked about bundling shipping but his carrier caps out at 30 kg and each set of 4 is 17 kg so can't even get 2 full sets into one shipment. When I had initially emailed he said he didn't want to ship to the US but then suggested that he would consider it, perhaps one of us could be the guinea pig to see how well (or not) it goes.
