Offered for sale is a rare opportunity to own a ground up restoration and resto-modded coupe. This is the second most beautiful coupe I have ever seen (Paul Cain's is my favorite) and the craftmanship is of the highest level. No expense was spared on the $135,000 build up of this car. The paint job alone was $35,000. There are approx 5,000 miles on the car since the buildup.

It won't be to everyone's taste....but it is truly one of the best driving cars I have ever had the chance to drive! The car is located in Newport Beach.

Here are the specs:

Completely repainted Alpina Blue, after rolling all 4 wheel arches,
modifying tunnel for headers, and removing engine and transmission
All seals replaced
Glass replaced as necessary

Alpina factory, with dash plaque and VIN plate to match

Gel Cell battery
Front and rear camber kits

I know the pics are awful...sorry for that!

Price is $105,000/best

WOW!

I am in the market for one of these sexy cars but 100K+ I better get a night job/

Although it was a "$135K buildup" never really stated what he was asking for the car. I think that the "economic reality" hasn't set in if that's the asking price.

Sorry Bob, I should have put the price above in the original text. The owner built this car for a client and then the buyer changed his mind and wanted the builder to go in a different direction with another car. The owner wants to recover at least some of his capital investment (or should I say divestment?)

We are entertaining all offers including classic and collectable BMWs as a trade.

mmm, maybe I should up my price,!!!. Nah
Nice coupe though, I have always liked the dark colors

I am really quite suprised that your car is still for sale. I am in love with it!!! What a beautiful car.

house for trade...

I really thought that the house trade offer would work.....the tenant really is a fox, uber desireable SoCal enhanced front bumperettes. As I said, low mileage, probably a '75 model...Sorry no pictures.

Six figures for a "tribute" Alpina sounds like a bit much to me no matter how well done. I could buy a real Alpina in excellent condition or a CSL for that matter. And, as an aside, those seats are absolutely garish.

Thank you! I appreciate all of your kind words. Why don't you buy this car? It's a "real Alpina" and it's in excellent condition, and it may be in your price range.....just $500,000!

[/url]http://www.canepa.com/inventory/collect/BMW%20Alpina_1/index.html I did have a precursor about th...set my price. Many regards, Ron Perry

Damn...half a million....I remember being a little sad hearing Carey sold "his" baby to a... "Bmw enthusiast"...And now such a short time later for sale again at an exclusive car dealer broker etc....I can only hope that the creator builder of this one of a kind Alpina got close to the asking price...To me and many I'm sure this will always be known as Carey Lida's Alpina

Chic , he meant Carey's CSL for sale at canepa.

Understood. I still stand by my original comments. Those seats are totally out of character for an E9.

Out of character for an e9?; So am I, my friend, so am I.... Have a great holiday in the Commonwealth.

Are you bright white with blue piping and have 'Alpina" in cursive scripted on your forehead? :)

I suggest anyone who is selling a vintage e9 and doesn't like comments try: http://www.autotraderclassics.com/

I think it is an interesting car. As a believer in the word and the handshake I think the client that asked the owner to put 135k into the car for him should keep his word and get it. Unless he parked his money in that hedge fund of course.

Having seen this car, the seats are not bright white and the piping is actually very subtle. It was very tastefully done, and I am a big fan of keeping things original.
