New part at BMW is about $70.

At Hella new part (with warranty) is about $50. At least they are available here for this money.

Not sure anyone from US can be interested due to shipping and customs.

appreciate your comment Krzszytof - all my sources show up at 100+ EUR at a minimum for this part.

No problem. As you checked these are relatively cheap here.

I will check the Made-in-? topic. :)

Anyhow new part from BMW dealership it still acceptable in pricing but not for $55 of course.

Thank you for putting more light on the topic but are the European lenses usable and in the interest of E9 owners in US?

I'm assuming Users from Australia and United Kingdom aren't interested in EU lenses due to different beam shaping required but maybe I'm wrong here.

Thanks Don,

I was aware of the RHD and LHD versions...

My question was about different, so let me rephrase it ...

Is there any interest in new Hella headlights in EU configuration of lenses (still different than SAE) in US? I could probably organize some of them. :)

We are having a very tough time buying them. Mostly buy from Ebay.de and Ebay.fr
I am interested!

Yes, I would think there would be interest here. They look much better on our cars, and some of us much prefer to reject stupid US DOT requirements when we have a chance. Sealed beam headlights fall into the stupid category.

Thanks for info.

I have nailed down one piece but I will check with the Seller.
Once I will organize some I will let You know.

BTW
It looks like high beams are cheap and widely available and the problem is mostly with Low Beam.

Have you been also considering BOSCH-made replacement?

City lights/position/parking are also mandatory in EU so all cars should have them

It is also on the picture (#15):

In my humble opinion, nor E24 nor E12 have any other lamps to incorporate so called "position/parking lights"

My assumption was BOSCH was not recommended supplier of the headlights in the past (E9 era).

We know also others were producing lights to BMW as replacements, not only BOSCH or Hella, but they are much more difficult to find now as they have mostly extinct.

Same as Ford capris I believe? I have a set of NOS hellas from a capri I will compare to my NOS bmw lenses although I think I only have the high beams from bmw

Yes. Capri, Volkswagen Passat B1 (dual round headlight version), Audi 80, jaguar xj6 xj12 (low beam only),

Other option (No Name):

I might be interesting how good they are with the quality of beam shaping. In the past there were some test done and NN were really poor at that point despity bright and shiny reflectors inside as the glass quality and overall mechanical tollerance was horrible.
