....by rivets but you may use screws if you install a new one. 20250813_180521.jpg

Mine was riveted in place but I used screws when I replaced it. It's a tight squeeze so access to remove the rivets was fun.

the plastic piece is in place and in good condition as is the carbon "button". my problem is how to connect the spade end of the wire so it is solidly mounted in the plastic sleeve shown in your pics.

It's there and the plastic housing is there, they are in two pieces however. My uncanny ability to determine the obvious tellls me something is broken. What is a good source for this item or do I resort to jb weld?

I bought mine from a member here a couple years ago. Most parts sources are out as I think the part is NLA, but it looks like there are some on eBay.

Thanks, Mine is complete and in good condition except for being in two pieces. This car is in no way a concours car, I believe I'll go the jb weld route

if the carbon stick is in 2 pieces ... not gonna work no matter what you do. if its the plastic only in 2 pieces, a good glue is your friend. nobody is ever going to see this piece as its always covered by the steering wheel + its cover. the only issues is if the carbon rod doesn't make contact with the horn ring, your horn will go off on its own. as i remember, and its been a while since i've looked at one, the carbon rod attaches to the spade with a small spring (at the bottom of the housing), so it will maintain contact with the horn ring. if you don't have a spade connector as shown in thread #5, you probably don't have an internal spring either
