How many years have you owned your coupe?

Bought my 1st 3.0CS back in 1988, drove it for about 10 years as a DD and it has been PARKED in my garage ever since. Has bot been started in years, periodically, I scavenge it for parts for the coupe I have now. Bought this one back in 2002. Total years of coupe ownership... a quarter of a century and change.

going on 31

Time=distance; 1000 miles since I got her off the lift-he who dies with the most miles on their coupe wins!

when peter said who dies with the most miles wins, i hope i won't die just yet. i want to enjoy driving it. i had mine just before my first child came along. and that is 31 plus years ago. it has travelled as far as yellowstone and back and countless commuting miles in the greater los angeles area totalling 309,000 miles with just one rebuild (rings and bearings and a new head at 80,000).

The yellow one was bought by my father in 1979 - I guess it became mine in about 1995. The bat was bought in 2000. I imagine the former will be in my will!

I bought it in 1982, when it was just 10 years old, so that makes it 32 years of ownership. We had just bought our first house and had no money to spend on toys. It was a deal that I couldn't refuse so I borrowed money from a friend, and spent a lot of time convincing my wife-to-be that it was a good "investment". It is probably now worth what I spent for the original purchase and parts, so maybe it wasn't such a good investment after all. The person selling the CS had a '67 Corvette coupe that I could have bought for the same amount. The Corvette would have been a better investment, but has none of the attraction of the CS.

I bought my first e9 in 2001. It is a 1974 3.0 csi, it has been in boxes since 1990 and still not driving:roll:

My 1971 2800 cs was bought in 2009, I restored it this winter and I have driven it for 4 months now:-D

Last month I got a 1 owner 1973 3.0 cs Automatic, it is totally rotten, but it has only 85000 km on the clock and is complete exept the shell. Last time it drove was in 1986 and it has been stored outside since:sad:

So: 13 years e9, and driving for only 4 months

It will be 10 years in November. A rare car in this part of the world with icy winter roads, salt and gravel making the black holes of Karman the perfect home for the rust weavel. Only judicious and constant applications of money seems to help.

And I thought I was a hardcore nut with an E3 as a daily driver for the last 5 years.

Gentlemen: I bow to you all in deep respect.

It does seem though that getting into an M30 powered car leads to a contentness that allows you to forgoe most other temptations (except the silly ones). I for one cannot imagine another car I´d rather drive daily.

23 years

Purchased my coupe from a used car lot back in 1991. I saw it as I was driving by down by the Santa Cruz boardwalk area. 23 years

January of 2010 so 3 1/2 years. Daily driver with 78,000km but I'll bet thats been around once.

I can't believe a couple of you guys have 300,000+ WOW! Maybe we should start and pin a high mileage thread?

I've owned my Coupe for around 33 years. I am not in the 300K mile club but do have over 200K miles. It used to be my daily driver until 1990. Now it is a weekend driver (sometimes an evening driver) and a back up when my truck is down.

After having had an E3 (2500), I bought my first E9 in 1981. I chosed between a 3.0 CSi or a 3.0 CSL Bat (227552x) for sale in Stockholm, Sweden. At that time, there was no demand for CSL cars. They were simply considered to be too uncomfortable etc. I followed some advice for comfort-driving and bought the 3.0 CSi.

Do I need to tell that price asked for both were more or less the same = around the equivalent of 2000 euro and that I still remember that particular day ... BTW, a friend of mine bought the CSL instead. Currently, that bat is in a BMW collection in Sweden.

Cheers
Henric
