How many years have you owned your coupe?

You should have bought both. The CSI for driving and the CSL for collecting...

But whatdoiknow? I´ve managed to buy the two only classic cars that have not gone up in value one jota in the last 5 years: an E3 and a Jag XJ-S.

When I buy: sell. When I sell: buy...

how many years did you owned your coupe

Sincé 1990 first as daily driver now as weekend and sunny day driver in Panama
sometimes I think I should drive her more than on weekends.

Wow some amazing ownership.

Newbie- 2 years and 2 months.

Drove my Coupe from Atlanta to Ofest 2014 in Beaver Creek Colorado last month.
3 days before I left I got my engine that I just rebuilt running correctly.
It had run off and on for about a week before.
3.5 with 5 speed. Paul Burke 10:1 pistons and N31 Cam. 3- Weber 45 DCOE
4009 miles and I think it's broken in?

Love my Coupe.

I owned a 74 coupe from 1995 to 2001. My next, present, and permanent coupe for 0.3 years and enjoyably counting.

28

Bought it in 1986, cracked in the front, barely running.
Saved money, bought a nose and fenders, had them welded on, drove it half Polaris half primer for two years while I saved more money.
Had it painted in 1988.
My friend and constant companion.

From my book:

"The 3.0CS isn’t beach-body curvaceous like a high-dollar Italian exotic – it’s more like the elegant 40-something woman you just can’t take your eyes off. I first saw a 3.0CS in the flesh while living in Austin, and was immediately, utterly, and completely smitten. Screw 2002s, I thought, I want me one of THESE."

This is all wrong. Question was how many years you owned your coupe, the stories suggest their coupes have owned them...

Isn't that the truth.

Bought a 2800CS in 1989, replaced it with a 3.0CS in 1992. Still have the 3.0CS (although it's now a 3.5CS). You can see it in the October 2014 issue of Bimmer, on newstands 8/8. (I haven't read the article yet--am out of the country and so haven't seen the copy that came in the mail.)

good one Arde , so true

12 good years of e9 ownership for me.
Still remember that first day very well, the day I picked up the CS, driving it home, parking it and admiring it for half the day.

3.5 years so far for me and I have still not driven it yet, still doing bodywork but getting there. Come to think of it I've never been in one that was moving.

I like the scribes point of view.
I bought the car for for my wife ten years ago - both were born in 1973.
The wife is gone and the car is mine.
I think I made the right decision.

Huh?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Arde is right. We don't own our cars, they definitely own us. It's just the way it is. Has your car ever gone out of it's way for you? Washed you? Fixed you when your broken? Covered you? Worried about you? Fed you? Make sure that you're safe at night? Waxed your body parts?
My coupe has owned me for four years. I hope she doesn't ditch me for another driver.

I know this is an old thread but........ It's taken me a while to get my arse in gear and post here.

I had my 2800cs from 1981 through to 2005 and have owned my CSL since 1997.

That's almost 70% of my life with an E9 of some description!

24 years!! Can't believe how I found it. Was at the" Vancouver International Auto Show " on a Sunday afternoon in 1990 and went up to a BMW dealer guy at a booth and asked if he ever came across any E9s for sale. He had just taken one in 2 days ago! All restored, and a beautiful Nachtblau, no way to turn it down. Monday night it was mine! Have enjoyed many years with it, especially tracing electrical gremlins and solving them!

1972 BMW 3.0CS Automatic

Owned for 7 years.

Today will be my last day of ownership.

SFDon is here getting her ready for her new owner in Florida. :)

Had a daily driver CS from 1984-1987 and sold before getting married and starting along the family path. Burning desire to have another since selling it. Fortunately in a position to get another in the spring of 2010, going on 5th year of bliss.

Just because you´re replacing it with a manual E9 of course...?

Sadly or fortunately, no. But it is freeing up room in my garage for the wife's car.

Now to work on getting my 2002 out this way. But that's off topic for this forum. ;)
