Injector rail safety question

I am researching using the L-JET manifold on a B35 and would like to use the one piece tubular L-jet fuel rail with adapters to fit later O-ring style injectors to the fuel hoses. My concern is that when I looked at adapters at efihardware.com they cautioned that it is unsafe to rely only on the clips that hold the injectors to the adapter because if a clip comes off or otherwise fails there is nothing else holding the setup together if the rail itself isn't independently secured in some way. The later motronic fuel rails are secured to the manifold and I am guessing it is at least partly for safety.

Should I be concerned about using an L-JET rail with newer injectors and adapters? I would like to have the option of higher flow and more modern injectors but am unsure how to address this potential issue.

I welcome all thoughts on this issue.

Call Carl Nelson- he knows about this and sells the adapters or did at one time I believe.

I spoke with Carl about a month ago asking about the adapters. I had purchased a set and used them on my old coupe without any issues. The ones that EFI Hardware sells look virtually identical and use the same style clip to secure them to the injector.

The rail is suspended by 6 rubber hoses attached to the injectors. There’s also the return hose towards the back of the engine which you can support by using a clamp with a rubber isolator and attaching it to one of the bosses on the c-runner. The l-jet setup also utilizes a clamp for the fuel pressure regulator that attaches to the forward c-runner. All of these attaching points provide plenty of stability and support to the fuel rail/tube. I made a fuel pressure regulator bracket to suit my need.

Thanks for the additional information. That aligns with what I have been thinking, that even if one clip somehow got loose the other 5 injectors would still be adding support and rigidity. I suppose there is always some risk when making modifications but as long as you are careful with the work the risk may be negligible. If I want to go overboard I could add some extra supports to the rail but I don't think I will go to that extent.

Those clips should snap in to place and hold the ring at the end of the cup. The fitment should be very snug. I doubt you’ll have any issues. One recommendation, use a little oil to lubricate the o-rings so they slide nicely into the cup.

Or you might just order the injectors from FIC and be done with it.

I will definitely look into it. Sfdon what if anything do you recommend I do to the injector stubs to align more to the B35 intake port shape? If any reshaping is recommended do they need any extra material added to avoid thinning the walls too much? My goal is to optimize performance of the parts I have.

Also, if I do use later style injectors do the stubs need modification for them to seat properly?

Thanks

Hi OC!
So this is a D-JET with L-JET fuel rail conversion? If not is it possible to do that on a stock 1972 M30 D-JET?

Thanks in advace ;)
