Is this an original front seatbelt mount?

Hi Mark (UK)
It looks like the upper support on the aft end has a reinforcement patch welded to the fender arch

I have this plate in my '71. My shoulder strap is mounted to it. See below:

Looks like somewhere around Jan 72 US coupes got the roof mount and Autoflug retractable belts, VINs 2240142 and 2250071.

Sounds like you worked this one out. I did check my '73 parts car (2263445). It was built in October '72 and the seat belt mount is present on the roof.

You can find the nut here:

Speak to the lady that runs this place, she's is excellent and I'm sure she can help, its in UK though;

I spoke to Sue at FDTS but they can't provide the loop hooks anymore. What they have are old stock loops and belt tongues. The belt itself would be a new one with modern retractor.
I'll check with Quickfit Safety Belts too.

Mark, I had a look at one of your pictures and compared it with one from some brochure (see below). In yours there seems not to be any extra gap for the belt to come out from. Does the belt still retract smoothly or does it get stuck between the rear armrest and the side trim?
Thanks for input!

Hi, in that case you may need to get a seat belt bolt, cut the top off and weld on a cut down hook from a hardware store and then plastic coat it. the problem is you will still need the boxy plastic cover to hide the hole in the top of the trim where the hook bolt passes. I have no idea where you can get these i'm afraid.

the armrests are modified slightly to give a clearance where the seat belt comes from the reel

Mark
