It is a tax on American consumers - pure and simple.. The latest from Pelican

i don't think UPS got the memo. i do mind the UPS fee, more than the tariff is ridiculous. bottom line a tariff on anything less than 100 bucks is not worth the cost to collect and pay. they should just focus on the big fish who import ten thousand + up ... that's where the real money is. not the nickle + dime stuff

Problem is that the tariff rules state that they are liable for taxes not collected. The small dollar transactions accumulate to really big dollars for them.

got it, my point was aimed more at the current administration policies, not UPS. UPS' point should be that it costs too much for them to collect.

I read somewhere that Fedex is in court over the implementation costs. It must have cost both UPS and Fedex huge money to implement these new taxes in such a compressed timeframe.

The saga continues.

As I noted above. I received a cryptic email from UPS that they needed "additional information from the customer". No statement as to what information was needed, or where I should send it.

I had to start with their silly AI chat system, that got me to an agent call-back request. I waited 5-10 minutes and got an automated call. Waited another few minutes and got a person who was clearly not a native English speaker. They determined that the shipment was international (even though the initial chat reference had asked for that information - and it should have been apparent to the system via the tracking number). They then forwarded my call to the "international desk". Another non-native speaker then put me on hold while they tracked down my shipment. They assured me that all of the paperwork had been filed and the package should be on its way as soon as I paid the fees.

About 2 hours later I got the fee notice, paid the exorbitant fee (see post above) and then received another notice that the package was "on its way".

Then today, I got another notification that they needed "additional information from the customer". Package was still in Kentucky...

I went through the same exact process, and this time the agent said that "something on the paperwork was not clear". No idea what wasn't clear... He then sent a blank invoice form. I basically copied all the info from the W-N invoice and sent this form and the W-N invoice back to them. I got a notification that this information had been "uploaded to customs", but have not seen any actual movement on the UPS tracking site.

Seems like US Customs in Kentucky has a bunch of really bureaucratic folks who apparently can't read the invoice that gets sent with the package.

So not only are we getting ripped off by UPS (and the US Government), we seem to have as much competence at the KY customs facility as we have in most other areas of the current Federal government, which is to say near total incompetence.

And now the scammers are involved. Purchased a set of Cibie lights with covers from Enoz. Total cost including the lights, shipping, customs, etc, approximately $240. Three days after he shipped him I got this text. The screen shot is all I kept. Keep in mind Enoz shipped UPS with no problems. The lights arrived on time in perfect Enoz Shipping Condition.

The text stated in harsh language I owned $31.87 or there would be issues at customs. Threatening unknown consquences if I did not pay. The bill they sent had all of Enoz and mine information, and of course they asked for my credit card information. Remember, he shipped UPS this text was, ostensibly from USPS. I wish I could have set fire to their screens.

It certainly could be a scam, but I think UPS uses USPS in many cases for "last mile" delivery. Scamming for $30 at a time is a tough way to make a living. You didn't save the USPS email or attachment?

i think its a scam - i just delete texts like that as there is no way to verify it, so i label it a scam, block the sender and move on.
