hi
I found an old synchrotester from Korinth
it is not complete, as the cups were not available

it is easy to reproduce the cups but i need to know the size of the central hole

i recall one of our fórum friends had a similar tool, but i have been unable to find the thread

I had one of these with all the various tops. The drawback with these is that they are only good for idle, once the rev's go up the needles max out. Also I never felt the caps fit tightly enough on the carbs for consistent readings. As long as the holes are the same size on each it should work. You may be able to modify the "STE 1" adapters from here:

Still cool devices though. These pics might help:

thank you steve
i recall seeing those pics before
good enough to work out the size of the hole

as to the STE1 cups, do you think that they fit better to the carb top ?, i do have the BK synchrotester too but i am able to manage with a tupperware bowl bought in the supermarket, as fit is not perfect i was considering buying the STe1

please advise

regards

edit : i will paste here jerrys answer in other thread that is related to this one.

kicking... gathering new parts.

On your hole for the sync caps- 1,5/8" (will work for up to 40s. 39mm I think) Should be fine for 32/ 36. That's what I did for mine.

One more trick on Zeniths from Mercedes- the plastic linkage with the wheel is how you set independent idles. Better than sloppy linkage and screws.

Great to hear from you as well.

I have no first hand experience with the STE-1, mine didnt fit well probably because they were so old. Might be worth a try, otherwise adapt yours.

Is the bubble wrap also from the 1970's? If so it could be worth a lot.

Hi, I have exactly the same tester from Korinth with all the adapters for Weber and Zenith/Solex. the tricky bit is that I'll be travelling for the next 3 Weeks... after that I would be happy to check the measurement.

That is a cool device. I once borrowed and used the "factory" tester from my mole in the local dealer's service section. I don't recall if it was exactly the model shown, but per comment by Stevehose, they are only good for synchronization at idle.

I now use (seldom) a length of clear plastic tubing, partially filled with ATF and connected to the vacuum port on each carb. This seems to provide a good reading at any rpm that I'm comfortable with, standing next to the open engine bay.

You have to be careful at first, because if your carbs are off synch, the oil in the tubing will get sucked into one carb and you'll have to start over. No harm in that small amount of ATF going into the engine, but it's a humbug to put more oil in the tubing and get the bubbles out. Just so you know, ATF tastes nasty when you try suck the bubble out of the hose.
