Looking for a E-9

Disclaimer and small print notice

I am looking for $35,000. OBO
Yeah, precisely that for my e24 as well...although this 'fine print' also says to not forget State tax, charges for License and Registration, Documentation fees, Federal Tire taxes (levied on five tires) and of course any optional equipment you might desire... such as air in the tires or enough fuel in the tank to get you to the nearest ARC0 fueling station. Note that your saleman's commission (which is now beng itemized and billed seperately for tax purposes) is very similar to tipping a waitress at the end of a group meal... more specifially, any amounts over the standard 18% that we charge as a matter of course is totally up to you, the buyer... as the check is after all written on your account and our Attorneys all indicate that we cannot be held responsible for anything more than keeping the car clean and perhaps keeping the battery charged, if absolutely necessary...unless we actually pay for the work as a sublet charge. (unfortunately, we have also been advised that we cannot charge you for the attorney's fees, at least until next year) Note also that next month the dealership will begin charging an 'illumination' fee on sales contracts to help offset costs incurred in keeping those pesky vapor lights activated for 9 hours a nite seven days a week...Mostly to avoid theft, vandalism and unisured loss, which btw has been the topic of discussion at our weekly sales meetings recently...Please bear with us during this period as we comtemplate additonal charges that may soon accumulate with interest, for a term not to exceed twice the total floor-time associated with your vehicle's County of Los Angeles temporary residency permit.

That is all....

As it turned out - I was in Portland this afternoon and had the opportunity to take a look at the car before the auction ended. I even drove it ~5 miles or so.

Nice guy selling - He's a dealer in Portland who trades in 'classic' cars.

I'll just say - The $19k winning bid is VERY strong for this car. Incredibly so in my opinion. Wow....

Well sold as they say in the business. I know the next time I go to sell a car - I'm going to use his marketing scheme as a template.

'Nuf said.

Incredibly so in my opinion. Wow....

I said it first, na na.... and I will say it again quietly....wow!

Strong is not a strong enough metaphor...but then again it only makes the rest more desirable...so let's secretly call a hiatus on arguing over whether the price matches the car and just thank our lucky stars there are sill people in
the world (unlike most of us) that are not rich enough yet to stop enjoying spending their funds on things like this...Seems the more you know about these rust buckets the more one hesitates when turning the key in the AM

Amazing huh?

Wow is right. $19,000 is impressive but based on the marketing pictures ONLY it does not appear to be excessive.

If I'm not mistaken I saw and drove this car in September of 2008 just before I purchased my '73. Todd the seller is a very nice guy and seemed very honest. The car was nice from 20 feet away; but as you got closer you could see the rust issues developing as well as the issues with the paint, (the paint was nice; but none of the trim was removed before spraying). The other issue was rust behind the rockers and the lower parts of the fenders. We took a great 20 minute drive and in the end I felt it was probably best to pass. The plus is the documentation; but it will need $$$ to make it a $19,000.00+ Coupe.
