Looking for e28 rear window motors

I've also purchased from Al. That is an EXCELLENT price for the four motors. Scott, you'll be going whooooopppppeeeee when you roll up the windows with the new motors. (be sure the lifting mechanisms are cleaned and re-lubricated when having the motors installed).

yes, but ... if you don't have a '74, its not a plug + play. you will have to do some minor cutting as well as rewiring.

I can't wait.

Do these work on a 1973 3.0csi as I noticed the black plastic motor casing shows a bigger magnet which means more torque. I tried putting a e28 motor and it didn't even move.

Tim,

email Al Taylor (post 2 of this thread).

guanshee - i don't know the specifics of the '73csi or whether yours is early or late '73. i think it was late '73 that went to the different motors and regulators ... which should be plug and play. the sardine can motors have different wiring. the clue should be whether you have the circuit breakers on the underdash panel. out of curiosity, with the e28 motor ... did the motor turn / move before being attached to your regulator?\

I could use a ONE left rear. Preferably with some of the wiring (about 12") too with it so it includes both male and female plugs.

In Feb or March of 73 our coupes got the newer motors, window regulators and circuit breakers under the dash. They are plug ‘n play with the e28 rear motors and other than the black plastic cover look identical.

Someone put together a nice website that outlines the modifications needed to put e28 motors in the front doors of older coupes. See https://sites.google.com/site/kdelimon/windowmotorconversion1 and https://sites.google.com/site/kdelimon/windowmotorconversion2

I have followed these directions and found them to be pretty straightforward. The extent of the cutting and rewiring isn't that much. I relieved my interior door sheetmetal to accommodate the e28 motor-gearbox, rather than use spacers as the website author did. If some Jetsons-era restorer wants to go back to the sardine can motors, the small cut-outs in the sheet metal won't hurt anything.

Don't know what is involved in swapping e28 motors into the e9 rear window regulators.

I got the motors installed by Bill Arnold. They are awesome. They all work except for one motor. If someone has a good right passenger rear motor from e28, let me know. Love it. Thanks all.

I am parting an E28 and about to remove the motors from the doors and then bench test them. I won't be able to do $125 for the set though sorry because for the time it will take me to remove them. Nonetheless, I will see how I go and then update this thread if they are for sale.
