Back to power steering
There are a couple of options on the manual boxes, the difference being in the ratio, and hence how hard the car is to manoeuvre at parking. The original, early, CSLs had a box ending in 108 on the ZF manufacturing plate on the box. Manual boxed Bavarias, as you call them in the US (3.0 S in Europe) had a box ending in 153. I have a couple in stock of both, and have them in some of my cars, CSLs and "CSLs". I put it in a normal cruiser CSi but am going back to power steering on that car. I honestly cannot find much difference when driving the cars, besides the heavy movement at very low speeds. I think a well sorted PS box is very tight, and on this particular car I run stock wheels with XWX 205 VR14 tyres, so there is a bit of play there, vs the cars on 16" wheels with modern rubber band tyres.
Did this make sense? Probably not, but bottom line is: I tried it on a normal CSi and decided to go back to a (rebuilt) PS box.
