would they also be heavier?
Heavier than what? Are you asking if SS bumpers would be heavier than the original plated steel bumpers? My guess would be "not appreciably".
The ad states that holes are already drilled for rubber impact strips and they provide the attaching strips as well.
Oops, you're right - the ebay write-up now reads "Impact molding mounting strips in stainless steel (2 x 51121811045 and 2 x 51121811043) The picture does not show the holes drilled for the impact strips, but the bumpers are produced with the holes." But I don't think that text was there a couple days ago - the ebay write-up also used to say that these fit 1600 - 2002's, and now that wording is gone.
Actually, stainless steel mounting strips would be a big improvement over the mild steel strips supplied by BMW. It would be nice if these were available separately.
My research shows these to be offered through Freinz Automotive....affiliated with "Made in China.com" I was told quote..."these were developed with the help of Ron Perry" If true than I am surprised Ron has not commented. Ebay listing shows Folsom, CA as the location. No shop per say, an internet based operation it seems.
Anyone know who is having these made, and where?
Not me!
