Did you buy this car from Rob? I bought his 35k mile CS a few years ago-one of the most original in the country with tons of documentation. I drove your car as I was thinking of buying both at the time. It drove well as was maintained by a good mechanic. My take was that he didn’t drive these enough. The ethanol is not great when cars sit. We performed a full sea foam treatment through my vacuum and used something else in my engine. Sat for a day, changed oil and restored compression fully. You might consider the same. Good luck and enjoy! Dm me if you have any questions

And the mileage is accurate. He bought both out of a California collection when the collector passed away. I think it was originally an Idaho car.

@climbernyc - I totally missed your posts. I didn't buy it from Rob, but from a friend of his. Now I know why you messaged me! I thought it was pretty random at the time. Thought just a friendly, fellow enthusiast.

I finally got the car today. Look familiar, yes?

I'm glad for the validation on the mileage. It appears to be correct and the mechanic that did the PPI agreed.

I may take you upon the offer. I'd like to find some way to document the mileage. I do have the name of the PO to PO to Rob. May see if he has any records. Or, try the Newport Beach BMW dealer. Grasping at straws.

I do agree with your comments and suggestion regarding the infrequency of driving.The tires that were on it looked like new and were dated 2004. It was still in CA then.

@zinz - And you will!
@HB Chris - Thanks. Yes, happy to have found it.

I have to be on calls right now, so I'm pretty much at the "sit-in the garage and listen to the clock tick" stage today. Just got it a few hours ago.

@rsporsche - Thanks. I’m knee deep. Bought 2 2002s within a few weeks of this.

@HB Chris - All the stickers I could find.

I used your photos, check it out. I did not use the coolant sticker as it should be on the expansion tank however. If you have one photo shot above each fender I will insert that as well. Perhaps insert with higher res.

The BMW Bavaria VIN 3103868 was manufactured on August 09th, 1972 and delivered on August 18th, 1972 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Baikal metallic, paint code 042.
I was just about to say that it looks way too dark to be Fjord and is more like Baikal, but you beat me to it!
