NMNA: Getrag 265s for sale in Seattle, WA

I contacted him this am- quick to respond and pleasant.
to be clear - I was just getting general information- they are available.

Looks like the seller updated the ad to state both do have mechanical speedo gears. I like the sense of humor that comes through in the ad. If the mileage on the one is true, that is an amazing find.

Two Getrag 265 transmissions:

#1 8,000 miles claimed. Looks it in every way. Stored for literally probably several decades. $3,000 OBO. M30 bellhousing. No reference sensor holes. From 80/81 528i E12 that was reportedly wrecked and saved. Engine from same vehicle was in amazing cosmetic shape and was also sold separately, I witnessed it at the owners house. Update: E12 sheet metal shifter was damaged and is removed. I personally used the bushings and the shift lever for my e12 based 78 euro 635csi m90 (sounds sexy but it isn't, and the clutch shit the bed sitting there. But it is a dogleg!)

#2 about 163,000 miles listed on odometer. 1980 528i BMW e12 chassis. $1,500 OBO. M30 bell housing, no reference sensor holes.

#3 Getrag 265 M30 Bellhousing with reference sensor holes from 1985 635csi E28 based E24 chassis with 78,000 miles. Speed sensors were so stuck in the holes and crusted over that I had to hammer them gently out in pieces. Holes etc survived well as I recall and BH is in good shape. Car sat in yard since early 1990s in New York.

Which of the three has the mech speedo?

And no price for #3?

My read of it is #1 and #2 are transmissions, both with speedo drives. And #3 is just a bell housing.

Read the ad again. He has updated it with answers to your questions.

Just noticed that Spence, the seller, is following this post. Evidently he and I speak the same language as I am following his descriptions (better than I usually do) and he thanked me for the forum clarifications. Full disclosure, NMNA - just s similar writing style evidently.

Anyway, "my" interpretation of autokunst is "car art". auto = auto (or car); kunst = art (in German).

Looks like the low mileage unit may be sold (pending). I have no idea how many miles are on my dogleg 265 - but certainly more than 8,000!!!

GLWS.

Thank you!

Please let me know everyone if I can answer any questions.

As it stands now I have a pending sale on the 8,000 mile claimed and looks it unit.

The other one is a take off from a (160? 163?) maybe a few less or more miles 528i 1980 model year and frankly the sucker looked good. Clutch everything looked good and I think actually original bmw from 1980 (!)

Also have solid non motronic factory lighter "hogged out backside" flywheel from same vehicle with all teeth intact unlike me.

Latest update:

The 8,000 mile unit was sold this morning.

The sheet metal shifter was removed from the 160k mile unit. The buyer probably didn't need it but the 8000 mile unit had a bad shifter sheet metal (bent).

The 160k mile unit's speedo drive gear bolt is misplaced. I sound like my dad. It's lost! I probably will find it tho so I reluctantly used the word misplaced.

A shifter lever, the bent shifter sheet metal, etc all come with the 160k mile unit.

When I get a chance I will seek out that funny little bolt that holds the speedo drive gear in =)

And the motronic "holes" bell housing is available as well.

Update, the 2nd unit is likely pending sale at this time. The non motronic bellhousing will also be available now as the buyer wants the motronic bellhousing.
