Hello all!

The day is here. I will be heading up to Tracy, California from Los Angeles this Friday. I've always dreamed about owning a CS, and with the love and support of my beautiful wife the day has come.

I found the car after a long hunt through CSI Inc. I have known Ben for sometime, I know he has had his issues with other members. He mentioned the car on Monday when I stopped by to pick up some sway bar brackets for my 2002. He told
me about the car and it was within my budget.

Ideally I wanted a manual, but I planned in converting the 4 spd to a 5 spd. I will convert this car as soon as I gather the parts.

The car is the exact color I wanted, which is rare when hunting for a classic.

Here are some details:
1971 2800CSa
Auto tranny from a 635csi
Zenith Carbs, includes a set of down draft Webers
Polaris on blue leather
Very minimal rust,'supposedly limited to surface trunk on trunk lid
Passenger side mirror
Strong engine with later head
Owned for 30 years, 2nd owner
Air Conditioning, needs recharge

$15,000 bough the car. I think this a great deal for such an original car.

I have not seen the car in person, so if it turns out to be a bucket of **** I will refuse pick up. I plan on borrowing an X5 just in case I need to tow it home.

Congrats and good luck! It looks like a great car and as far as rust goes, Tracy is a good place for a CS :-)

Cheers
James

Welcome to the Club and hope it works out on your trip.I just complete the swap from A to 5 so don't wait, it's the best thing on my car is having a clutch!

Nice car...

I'd be curious to hear how it drives in the current configuration with the 6 series auto?

Thanks- Richard

I think one from a Bav works.I converted it over myself and the hardest thing is getting the bolts out on top of auto. 3' extension with swivel socket was the ticket.Be sure to ask question if you start the process because everyone here is very helpful.

Congratulations, the automatic shifter knob you have in that car is very valuable, you may be able to fund the 5 speed conversion just by selling that knob!

HB Chris has e12 peddles that he mentioned might be able to modify to fit a e9?

That's an expensive knob! What do they sell for?

Yep, it is such an art piece I almost kept my car automatic just to interact with that knob on a daily basis. I still miss it but hours of therapy have helped a bit.

Not enough transactions to price it, people do not sell it.

Car also has a complete tool kit. I've heard a lot of talk about the infamous red screwdriver.
