Rear side window weatherseal

Hello everyone,

Today I have spent over 9hours trying to fix the aged rubber "block" on the bottom of the rear side window. First I tried fitting it to the glass like it was supposed to. But when installing it to the car, this block sits about 1/2inch (1cm) below the weather seal that is on the chrome window trim. I had to cut the block to fit it correctly (the old one I removed was also cut).
But I can't figure out how this is supposed to look when installed correctly.

I can't check the other side because that piece is missing there.

Does anyone have a picture of how these pieces sit correctly when the window is closed?

Hi Chris, It seems like the end of the piece, where it meets the other seal is a bit crooked. And the vertical trim is also pushed towards the front on the bottom where it meets the rubber block.
 
Here’s my passenger side with door glass up. It’s does have a slight notch in it on leading edge. On driver side the vertical seal has a small fold from wear but it is vertical.

That is the correct piece, those are the pieces I instLled. But I need to know how these actually fit to the other rubber seals (below the window and in the verticle chrome trim on the side of the window.)
 
You have cut them up too I see. I don't believe that is how it is supposed to be.

Hi all, I had an issue with mine as well. They should not be cut if you have a factory piece.

Markos pulled a window a few months back as a reference for me and might be able to chime in. I believe they were mounted on both sides of the glass at the bottom but it had multiple accompanying pieces. Images follow.

I have attached 2 more images to complement the images Chris posted, offering a top view of a factory installed seal on a window.

Thanks for posting the link to a source. In the absence of a part, I fabricated the main gasket from rubber that had a "P" profile. It looks correct and was affixed with 3M trim adhesive but it is not what I would prefer if pulling a window up and down.

I don’t think that the rubber isolators that I sent pictures of are the same thing (are they?). These go between the metal window mount and the glass. I thought that is what you needed pics of. They are very thin, not thick like the piece at the base of the window.

Unfortunately I put zero rigor into understanding the rear window configuration. I’ll need to pay more attention when I take apart the project car.
 
Ugh but it was still helpful at the time, as are most images at some point. I still appreciate the time you took, thanks. Assuming you have a window intact maybe you can post how the "correct" rubber gasket aligns with the gaskets beneath it, i.e., if and/or how it stacks?

I will leave the photos up as a reference to accompany realoem.

From these pictures it seems that the reproduction rubber parts are totally different. I will put my car in storage for the winter next week and will take everything apart again. Maybe I can figure out how all of this fits nicely.

Here is a picture of my project car. While I can’t guarantee that these aren’t replacements, I can say that they haven’t been touched in over 20 years.

I removed the aluminim window trim to help with visibility:

This is interesting. I had to install my rubber piece on the edge of the glass, while in your picture, it sits 1cm from the edge (nr1). When I do this, the rubber piece is too far back and hits the rubber weatherseal on the bottom when the window rolls up and down (nr2).

Well remember that I removed the Aluminum trim that runs vertically on the rear window. It has a rubber seal on it. This trim piece keeps the front window sealed with the rear. So the rubber block in question needs to be rearward of the trim piece.
