Hi,
i would introduce my resturation project here as well.
(did it also in the German Froum)
I´m Breiti (Nickname) from Germany.

Bougth that car (German delivered) from second owner 5 Month ago.
Its a 1972 3.0 CS Automatic.
It seams like, the car has almost no rust, but let´s see later, when is stripped.

Planed: convert to stick shift, install tripple Weber, 16" Alpina, little lowering

Inside looks god, i will keep the situation, just the front seats need a bit attention.

Car is the last >40 years only driven in sommertime.
Get the plates of every winter. 46 years in one hand.
typical aereas looking pretty good, but there will be any rust.
However, the base is great. only 114 k km proved.

It looks like a great starting point. I love the color combination an hope you keep it that way. I changed to a 5 speed years ago, you will love it. Triple side draft webers are eye-candy. Have fun!

Very good base.
Was it restored in the past?

What kind of make/size or wheels it has? I like them a lot! :)
 
The mounted wheels are Ronal 7J x14 H2 ET14
But he gets alpina 7/8 x 16

Never restored, never welded...
(Only left fender had rust repair)
Was 46 years in one hand and well neat.

Pre owner make a rust remove 1978 with blasting already affect areas and sealing those very well.

Hey guys,
Maybe one of you have any clue, how to get off the floor stuff w/o removing / damaging the CDC / KTL cause I will keep them.

It looks like I have over the stone ship (UBS) a orange prime from the late 70 and than a black kind of tar or something else.

Particular, I remove it with the water pressure and more with scratching with a plastic scrape.

Not sure dry ice will touch it but it is the less aggressive.

Methods can take weeks or damage the base (grey).

Not sure E9 has KTL at Karmann at factory but for sure someone will step-in and correct me.

99% are removing all as some of the rust in hiding in some smaller or larger spots. Later on it is a risk new chemistry/paint will be compatible with the leftovers. I have bad experience keeping even small parts on rubber (almost invisible) as nothing will pain on it well for a long time.
 
When the UBS is removed, the rust issues become visible.
But that is looking so good,i will keep it when in any way possible.
I trymore today with high pressur water, get a lot of.
And i have a call with a Dryice guyfor a appointment next week.

Got the almost empty shell now.
Tomorrow went to dry ice cleaning.
Till now it looks pretty good with rust...
Some small spots, but nothing big.
Right lower fender, left skid support.

The orange Color?
That paint the pre owner in the late 70th
a kind of rust protection that is in the meanwhile not longer available.
