Hi Guys ,
The e28 subframe will fit but it does require a fair amount of work to make it work . The subfarame itself will bolt right in on to the existing studs . however the e 28 subframe bushing's have a metal insert that does not fit the E9 as well as I personal like . snice all of the coversions I have done are race cars I had the hole bushing made out of Metal and the insert part was turned down to fit right into the e9
the second issue is how to bolt the rear of the diff in , I use a diff cover from an 82 or 83 e28 or e24 . the pick up point is in the center and allows you to bolt in the diff with no mods ! part # 33 11 1 210 434
the next big issue is how to bolt in the coil over style rear shock . the e9 came with the spring mounted on the trailing arm , the e28 do not have a spring perch . On the Green car I built we made shock towers from scratch , a real tedious task . I have seenwere guys cut out the e9 towers and weld in e12/28 towers that allow room for the coil over assembly. The car I am building right now I hope to do this , so follow that thread to see how it works out
The sway bar wasn't a huge deal I got an e28 bar and endlinks and welded in a two base's to mount the subframe to and bolted it all in
I have never hooked up the ebrakes but I will be in the next one so Ill post something up about that when I get to it
so for more street car based tips pay attention to my new build thread for other stuff you can find pic's in the old build thread
holler if you need more specific info
