It bolts right in and it is LSD and you have a 3.64. So 3.07 / 3.64 = 84% so a 16% reduction in RPM for easier cruising but less acceleration from a stop.
Hi Chris, are you talking about the LSD deferential that [B]Mot27cars[/B] post it or you have one like that I need one for my car and I hope 3.07 will be a right with M3 engine and 5 speed that is on my car you know much better than I know please give me your opinion.

Easy to swap gears from a non-lsd?
This is a large and complex topic. There are three different sideloader cases and gears from the latest version are not interchangeable with the earlier two versions.

3.07 Limited Slip Differential.
Tight and moves smoothly.
Was removed years ago from a low miles wrecked e24.
Had been sitting on shelf since.
I did clean it up and paint it.
Asking 1800.00 shipped to the lower 48.
Hello I am interested to buy your LSD is that available or it is sold let me know please.

Hi,

The LSD in the pictures in the thread opening message has the extra oil reservoir. It is not in all side loaders. What is it for and why only some ratios or types have it?

Nice diff. I currently have a 3.64 and a 3.45 LSD. I'd love a 3.25 LSD, but this is a close second to my dream diff. Would go really well with my CR 5 spd.
Are you driving with a 265/5 tranny now with one of those diffs?

are your diffs early or late (bolt on or slip on flanges or can you see if the flanges are threaded or the flange bolts have nuts?)

The “oil carrier“ was installed in euro 535 for one year in 1980 and in euro 635 for four years starting in 1978. I think of them as a cooling and anti frothing device. Note the input is at the top of the ring gear where oil would be slung off.

I still have this differential…..although I no longer have the oil cooling/anti-frothing part. I also now have a set of 3.45 ring and pinion gears. This differential has the slip on flanges. And is a ten bolt ring gear configuration.
Not sure I want to sell it currently…. As I really think I want 3.45 lsd and may change these or trade for one.

Driving? Not currently, as I spend all my free time welding new metal onto the chassis. But when I got the car it had the 265/5 with the 3.64 and I drove it sparsely. When I started to take the car apart, I happened upon a 3.45 LSD that I picked up. This would match a stock European CSi gearing. A taller gear like what @Mot27cars has would calm that ratio down. Hmmm, maybe we should discuss a trade. :cool:

265/5 1:1 final drive matches a CSi, but the CSI has a 3.25 LSD. Somewhere between a 3.45 and a 3.07. The 3.07 did come behind the 265/5 in the e24.

I had heard otherwise. Are you sure all CSi's had 3.25? @Luis A. what's in your car? Anyway, 3.25 would be a sweet gear ratio, I think. That's the dream. I'd need more torque/power. The 3.45 might allow me to enjoy a modified 3.0 liter motor more readily.

These differentials were typically found on these models:

3.25 Open - CSi
3.25 LSD 25% locking - CSi and CSil
3.45 Open - Euro 3.0CS/CSA
3.45 LSD 25% locking - CSL, Euro 2800CS/CSA and 3.0CS/CSA and US 2800CS/CSA
3.45 LSD 40% locking - Euro 2800CS/CSA and US 2800CS/CSA
3.64 Open - Euro 2.5CS/CSA and US 3.0CS/CSA
3.64 LSD 25% locking - 2.5 CS/CSA

Never trust RealOEM.
