There's no clear indication how to sign up?

Anyone else successful?
Yes I was able to create an ACE account and file a claim. You'll need to find your import docs and file as the importer. Instructions here:

What You Need to Do

If you have a US bank account:
  1. Log in to the ACE Portal at ace.cbp.dhs.gov
  2. Go to Accounts → Importer → click your company name
  3. Click the "ACH Refund Authorization" tab
  4. Add your bank account information (routing number + account number)
  5. Click Submit and confirm it saved
Don't have an ACE account?
You'll need to create one first at https://ace-accounts.cbp.gov/s/importer-form

If you're a non-US importer without a US bank account:
You need to file CBP Form 4811 designating a licensed customs broker to receive refunds on your behalf.

oh, I didn't realize I had to sign up as an importer.

I'll change my account then.

for the longest time, the login didn't show up.

now it does.

If you caused a product to be imported into the US, e.g., by buying it, you are an importer.

Hmm...

Seems like they want info that I don't have:

*Importer of Record Number (IR#)

???

i basically got a bill from UPS to pay the tariff fee.

Do I petition UPS to get my money back from them??

"Chyrsanthos was pessimistic — but then he got a bit of news. The shipping company DHL, which he'd used to import his expensive sink, announced it would provide refunds for customers who had paid tariff fees to them directly.

"Now that's unexpected and wonderful," Chyrsanthos says.

FedEx and UPS also promised similar refunds for customers. For these shipping companies, it's an option because there is a clear paper trail of how much each client paid — and now is owed."

Hey Rob.....so did you import the item(s) to be refunded directly? Or did you use UPS/Fedex for the delivery of the item? The import of record number is the actual person (or company) who was the importer. If you imported directly (such as I did with my car). then you can find that number as the import identifier number. If UPS/Fedex is the actual importer, then you will need to petition them for your refund.

Make sense?

Jim
