Upon further inspection it appears that the brown wire at the back of the alternator was loose/off.

If battery boiled over, you best get it out PRONTO (cover the fender top) and clean the tray with backing soda/water paste. Mine did that when regulator failed.

There is no rush, car isn't going anywhere. I'm going on on Friday for PDR appointment to straighten out a few dings then time for a new clutch
