I was thinking (look out), that one of the great things about our site is that it is free and that allot of people on the site send members things for free plus the price of shipping. Depending on the item, I think it might be a good practice-totally optional, but when someone sends a member something free the recipient may want to make a 10.00 donation, again, it would depend on the item, but that way there would probably be a fairly steady, though small, influx of funds to the guys who keep this up and running :-) and when people give items for free to other members they'll know that they are helping support our little community.

I love this place! :-)

i'll add to this and make it a trifecta of people who shouldn't be caught thinking out loud.

bright idea!

Consider it done...what a great idea to help keep the wheels greased, as it were! And thanks for the part that is expected here tomorrow...You're a good one Peter C.

I thought members here had undertaken an obligation to ensure the moderators never pay for their own drinks.

Nonetheless, deal me in on this idea.

Seat Pieces

I have a pair of front seats from a 1974 e9 CS. (tan) They were originally out of my blue coupe, I considered having them re-done and then reality stepped in as they are pretty far gone. Some (many) of the pieces are good and I'm taking them apart (as time allows) and seeing if anyone wants any of the parts. de Q already got the chrome strips that go around the back but the rest of the stuff is available. If anyone wants any pieces- free for the price of shipping just let me know, PM is probably the best way but you can also reach me at [email protected].

Hello, IPeter C:

I'd like to see what it takes to expose the tubes in which the headrests are supposed to slide... so I (and others) could consider to get an idea of how difficult it is to get in and whether we could expect to get out.

I've hung my seats on ropes and used undue force, but the headrests don't budge. I'll have to go in and wonder what the process is to get there, and out.

OOOk then, I will do my best to dissect them with pictures. I will try some WD-40 down the tubes and throw out a challenge to the warehouse manager. If that does not work there is a Cross-Fit next door, I'm sure I can find some muscle heads there to do some pulling :-)

cadaver exposed

Charlie, on my other post I have attached pictures of the innerds of the headrests. I am on a different computer or I would post here and I'm not tech savvy enough to copy the shots over but I think I have what you are looking for. I don't know much, actually anything, about furniture construction but these things were pretty well made from what I can tell (1974). I tend to be a "no-forcee" person, but without using a little C4 there are very few options for moving those headrests once they are set in because the pins can rust in the groove and then it's like being welded. I had to hammer away at least 30 hard shots to remove these and I managed to keep most of the pieces intact.

I saved every piece that was removable except the actual frames so I have lots of pieces if anyone needs something specific. I dispatched the back panels with the chrome, the back adjusting knobs with trim, the plastic plugs, large slotted screws, lever surrounds and headrests but I have all the pot metal pieces, clips, chrome plates, rods and even the safety switches, etc. I have my seats being "repaired" from the polaris coupe so I'm going to hang on to the remainder of the pieces until they come back but after that I will post a picture of the pieces if anyone needs anything and we can play the "donation game".

For those of you that requested the parts they have all gone out except de Q as I'll get you a shipping quote tomorrow morning.

Thanks, Peter!

You are a 'Gold-Star' e9 forum member for sure.
A donation has been made to the site by me for the parts you're sending my way.
I have noted on my donation to Dan G. that you were the impetus for my contribution.
I appreciate your generosity.

Be well, amigo!
Steve Carlisle
