Tariffs

Thank you Tom.

Lately- I’m getting packages sent to me as “Gift” and marked “Abandon if undeliverable “
Yeah, and you asked me to cut the dashboard into two pieces and send it in two shipments

I have Wise. That’s how I transfer to my Portuguese bank.

Walloth doesn’t do Wise. My biggest supplier.

I’m now asking all my suppliers if they use Wise.

Much of my time is spent traveling now in Europe and Australia. The shop will stay open on a limited basis to finish jobs on hand, but there will be no more parts sales while I am gone.
Shipping from Europe has become a disaster…
With the tariffs and the US dollar plummeting- I no longer make enough money to continue buying and selling from Europe.
My shop will use our current supplies to finish in house jobs and only buy supplies for our own account.
I’ve spent 10 years selling parts to forum members at break even - now I would be losing money so it’s over.

To pay W&N using Wise, select the pay immediately option when you check out. They will then give you their bank information and you can use Wise to transfer the money.

I feel for you guys, I really do.
In Europe a lot of people nowadays are talking about how we can become stronger and how we can do without the US. Can we do without Microsoft, Google,... and use our own services/products and be more independent.
I'm afraid in the end it's gonna hurt the US economically.
After all this years we worked together in such a great balance and mutual understanding, that's really a pity.
But hopefully, as history mostly shows, everybody will learn from this period and it's only one step back and later on two steps forward!

School of life/hard knocks here :-) - no conventional schooling as such, besides when the truant officer visited Mum (ouch) I then appeared for a week or two, had a little fun and went back to work, which I loved. School was for sports and chasing girls, (wasnt it ) that part was ok in my book.

So, without the eloquent words and rationale some have shared, I will share my simplistic understanding of what is happening and where we are going.

If Tariffs stay, they will filter to the end user/purchaser, like an ill-fitting windscreen rubber, water will eventually get to the A posts, floors and cill structure, what route it takes and how quickly it gets there may be debatable, but said impact is assured.

Should they not stay, unfortunately, for the average decent American, it's like any of us who had a bad experience with a particular marque; the trust is gone, and it will take decades for us to give that marque another chance.

The rest of the world has already decided it's best to try other relationships and loyalty, therefore, the costs to the average American is as assured as the rust Karman built into our passion.

Just two cents from this street urchin's experience

:p that's really a great metaphor! And not too far off the E9-topic as well...

Walloth is UPS thankfully.

I have made adjustments at my shops- no new business. Finish the cars in queue with supplies on hand. Draw down my inventories and accumulate cash.
I’m no longer comfortable with the future of our business environment. I’m not betting my money on uncertainty.

I’m leaving for Europe next week until this summer. Going to get one of those passport covers and backpacks they sell now with a Canadian maple leaf embossed on them. Apologies to the Canadian people….

I met today a beautiful 98 Y.O. lady from Toronto at ASKS, she travelled this far to meet her daugther. She was worried and didn’t like her country, I was polite enough to tell her that all the world is very similar these days, she wore a Canadian flag
And spoke with a nice French touch in her accent

Don, remember to wear only bmw shirts while visiting Europe, not even the Pope had universal support here. No one is safe these days…

What is ASKS?
Yes, when traveling you can absorb local wisdom.

I read in kanji news that Chinese airlines can not pay imposed tariffs on their new Boeings, so they are sending them back, good thing about Boeings they can fly back on their own, no need ups or fedex paperwork drama, also don’t need to cut them in halves to save shipping fees,
same source says airbus has receive 101 calls in mandarin

Hi

Just as a note, at Longstone Tyres we are still shipping quite a bit out to the States. We use the UK Parcel Force company, and it all seems to be going swimmingly well. i don't think we have had one person from the WStates contact us dissatisfied with the way the shipments have gone.
