The Vintage in Asheville 2018

I jest...No, just a public grass field lot across the street from the venue entrance...where I parked the Volvo wagon last year with all of the other visitor scrabble...I think the e3's were up near the road, away from the activity. I think Don has the right idea.

For those of us attending: If we want to park coupes together at Hot Springs, it looks like we need to arrive together Saturday morning. Scott says not to be there before 9am. It's a 45-minute drive. So, I propose that anyone interested gather at the Clarion parking lot ready to roll at 8:15. Alternatively, if you arrive at Hot Springs before 9, park across the road from the entrance and join the coupe caravan when we arrive.

Don
I am staying at a hotel in Hot Springs and will try to meet the caravan at the entrance at 9am.

Keep pushing it through...(easier to apply Rain-X when its dry). Be safe. Just started here with a shower around seven, and another just now at 8:30. We are about an hour due east of Asheville. Just want it to keep moving quickly...Good news is that it's been pretty dry around here.

I posted this on the Vintage Facebook page but I'll put it here too. I am in the simplifying/downsizing stage of life. I have about 50 years of BMW ads, brochures and articles that need to find a good home. E9 stuff plus many others. I'm going to set up a table in the Clarion breakfast area Friday evening, 8-9p, to sell anything that moves you.

Don

I'm coming up Friday afternoon to the hotel parking lot (white Volvo wagon with a few parts, scheel mann 400s, e9 wood, 02 stuff, etc), but coming back home around 8pm, so hope to at least say hello...Back up Sat morning (same white Volvo across from venue...long, not fun story) to visit, tell lies, kick tires, maybe drink a malt beverage or two. Everybody stay dry and safe.

Hope you guys have good weather this year (no rain obviously but also not as HOT as last year). Please remember to post lots of pics!

So, did the parking situation improve? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, improved greatly. Coupes were all together this year.

If that continues, I may attend next year. I wonder why Scott didn't want to communicate that this was possible? Oh well.

Lots of Vintage pics and stories are being posted on Facebook. If you couldn't make it, it was another classic. Doug Dolan said that 22 coupes were registered but I saw maybe a dozen. Bo Gray got this shot of me pulling out after a torrential downpour -- one of my favorite shots of the coupe ever. Thanks, Bo!

That's Andrew Wilson to my left and Rob Siegel in the E24 behind me. We made some memories.

It is so great to see some pics from the event. Hoping more people post here. There are some folks that are not on Bookface. :D

I also had the privilege of parking between Amy's beautiful coupe and Gertie! Amazing group of people that were willing to steer a newbie in the right direction. Thank you everyone that I spoke to, your insights were invaluable. (Photo credit to Bo.)

I just don't think Scott wants to be responsible for all the various groups who want to park together. We just gathered at the Clarion and drove over to Hot Springs in a group. More fun, and it solved the problem!

Same situation as last year, I got there late and parked by the front entrance. There were a couple other e9's scattered about.

2006 trouble free round trip miles, not a drop of oil burned, 90+ mph at times with my new bird dog, love love love driving in NC. My car will be getting wheels off spa treatment and pampering for the next couple of weeks, plus my butt and right foot need to get their feeling back!

Good to see everyone again.
