Trim between taillights - chrome or aluminum?

I don't know if it will help - i had three of aluminium trims all with fog lights: one was from 72' csi, one from 74' csi, one from 72' 3.0cs, they didn't looked like they ever been changed.

Upper one - brass, chromed
Lower - aluminum
The only difference is the shape of the screw area stamping

Good observation about the screw recess. I’ll have to remember that one.

Maybe it would help looking on the E9's pictures and find out the rule of application (if exists and was not connected to dual-supplier or specific point in time).

My E9 was robbed in the past so no taillights and no trim. I can't tell than which was there originally in '75 and RealOEM shows all years and types for both part number.

@HB Chris look on the weight of the parts which I have marked red. I not sure opening can take 400 grams out of part.

I agree about that. The 130 part number started out as chrome and became Alu.

This is the point which is not clear for me.
Typically 51 13 5 734 130 should have the info that it is superseeding other PN.

But probably this is just a messy BMW part database from 70's, right?

If form and function didn’t change they didn’t create a new part number is my thinking.
