Does anyone know for what is the switch that my car had under the steering wheel close the odometer reset
Thanks
I had one of those switches too, I have weber carbs now, I wondered if it was a manual choke for the Zenith carbs.
Just a wild guess, I had a manual choke on my 72 fiat spider so I wondered if it were the case. It wasn't an on/off switch in the fiat so probably not.i have never seen such a thing as manual choke for zeniths, not even for 2800cs, but being an on/off only, it might be to feed the choke solenoids in very cold weather conditions ?

Sorry the photo is not very good, but the switch is only ON/OFF switch, and was close to odometer reset. To use it you have to open the fuse compartment.
My 71 2800cs has only one of buttons, I think it's factory, see the attached file.OK, so it's an electrical switch - not a choke cable pull - right?
And the fact that it's located behind the hood release / fuse box access door suggests that it's not something that you would switch while driving - probably not fog lights, rear window defrost, etc. I guess it could control an electrically-operated choke, but if it were me, I'd put that switch somewhere more accessible.
Do we agree that it is an add-on, and not factory installed?
And that is the correct knob placement for the trip reset. My 71 2800cs has only one of buttons, I think it's factory, see the attached file.

I wonder if it was a kill switch to interrupt the starter as I see a black wire.
I was thinking the same thing. Hidden, not often used...Fuse box looks e3 or later 2002, there is no electrically operated choke. Does that plug behind it with red and black wires go to it? I wonder if it was a kill switch to interrupt the starter as I see a black wire.
