Pretty much everything has been completely rebuilt, refurbished, or is brand new. The driveline is an M30B35 from a 1990 E34. Getrag 265 5 Speed. A few before and (mostly) after photos here.
The interior leather will be a medium brown/tan, similar to the original tobacco color but a bit lighter. I originally considered going with a cream beige but found it too yellow, with insufficient contrast to the shiny Verona paint. (It also made the car look like a would-be Ferrari imposter.)

Next steps are to finish installing the chrome, bumpers, and major interior pieces, then bring the car up to @sfdon to build the fuel system and finish all the details from bumper to bumper. With some luck, it will be on the road next year.

Today's progress: C-pillar roundels, the hood, and the hood vent chrome. The car has not had a hood affixed to it since 2006.

Thanks @Markos. It only took Odysseus 10 years to get home. This journey has been at least as full of angry gods, shipwrecks, and wrong turns, but it feels like it's finally getting close! This group (and before that, Art's CS Registry listserv), has been a great resource, full of good advice and great people. Onward!

How was your kidney grill polished? I was told by my local metal plater that the anodized alum. needs to be stripped before chrome plating. My grill has a matte finish from 19K miles of stuff hitting it. Thanks, Drew

You can strip the anno at home with a kind of toilet cleaner.
Drano Pearl's in a water bath .
Just a few minutes needed.
Neutralize it with descaler.
Then polish it and bring it to the annodizer for a shine anno.
Please ware glasses, gloves and long arm shirt while handling.

Indeed! Also oven cleaners work well.
Just Google "removing anodisation from aluminium at home".
All of the bright aluminium on our cars is/was anodized.
