Weekend removal of Rear (end)

I removed the rocker covers and cut 2 pieces of wood to fit the jack stand end and car body then supported it under the original jack point. Flush against the metal lip in the background. Check integrity of rockers before doing so. The brown stuff is excess waxoil.

Very cool. I have yet to pull my rear subframe, but may do so this winter.

Where did you support the rear of the body? A picture would be helpful.

I have a drive on lift so it's easy to lift the body just not so easy to get the whole rear assembly out from under the car.
It was too heavy to just lift out so I used the same procedure I used to put the transmission in.
I lowered the car down to a B&D workmate portable work bench. It's about 30" off the ground so can still get under the lift.
Once I had the whole subframe assembly on the lift I had to slowly turn the workmate so the axles were parallel with the lift and then I could lift the car and then pull the whole assembly out. See photo.

The body was on jack stands near the jack points with a piece of wood distributing the load over a bigger area. See photo.

Got all my calipers Yellow Zinc plated at a local company that is car guy friendly. All parts in big shot for $150.
Had to replace seal of input shaft of diff. It was leaking.
Had diff blasted and you see primed then painted black.
Replaced fuel line from tank to just below fire wall today. Bought line and bend myself. Interesting???

Nice. If you clear coat your calipers the brake dust will come right off with a little wheel cleaner and look great for years.

Thanks Steve. I have some clear coat so will do that.

Another thing I learned from the write up the Porsche guy did was to paint the tops of the pistons as they tend to rust. I had never done that before.

i got that Chris ... i'm just envious of having enough time to take on big projects on my coupe. i would settle for enough time to get small projects finished.
