What did you do to your E9 today?

I saw my car for the first time without any rust. Yes I understand how strong of a statement that is and now it's headed to the painter.

Every so often, some form of inspiration helps me explain to my wife why I enjoy spending time wrenching on our old cars. The photos of your "wing-girl" reinforced this message beautifully - thank you for sharing!

Test fit the Webers, waiting on linkage, will weld the cone on number 4 trumpet later. Good day of work!

Any fitment issues with the water pump housing or the brake booster? What manifold are you running behind the DCOE's? Also which oem brake booster?

Never mind the booster: 2800CS. I see what you did.

kit from pierce manifold, modified Thermostat housing from Korman Auto works, original booster and modified trumpet at #4 cylinder

Nice Steve!!
I decided to venture on a 400 mile trip with the old e9 over the weekend- went to visit another addict in Houston and install (or watch him install) a headliner in his very awesome e28 Euro, but that's not an e9, the drive was pretty cool although the fan for the A/C did not work so I had the windows open and of course crap was flying everywhere. I'm kind of on a self-destruct mission since I have a completely new drive line to install but the old 6 kept pulling along and never got half way on the temp gauge. I experienced about 20 MPG at 75-80 MPH (I think because the needle bounces quite a bit). I have the Recaro seats in my car which were incredibly comfortable and all the suspension work done seemed to have paid off since the car was very surefooted even in the construction areas with the narrow lanes the car was very easy to control. I can't wait to start the 2nd rebuild on this beast but the little shims for the rear leg of the oil pump are holding me up- can't seem to find them. Any ideas would be most helpful :)

Peter,

let me look, i think i have some oil pump shims ... from a bunch of years ago when i had a bavaria. be in touch soon

Switched out the old blue/white dot cocomats to the blue/black Chequer pattern and it looks fab. More subdued than appears in the sunlight of the driver side of the pic (more like how the passenger side appears). I will be giving away the old set (faded but in good nick) in a separate thread if anyone can use them.

Today I fitted my adjustable perch 2.5"coil over set.

Weld was not completely removed to act as a support for the threaded sleeve .

Thinking that I should've gone with 7" springs as ideally I'd like the car .5" lower. Without the assister spring and it's perch it would ride about right but the perch is all the way down so I'll be ordering some shorter springs soon.
