I have to say that I never compromise on tyres for any car. If you think about it, it’s the only part of the car that actually has contact with the road. And that contact area isn’t very big!

This all day long. If in doubt, spend more to get better quality - Much cheaper and far less heart-ache than having an accident where the extra grip could have made the difference!

If it was me I would be looking for tests in dry and wet braking / handling performance and making my decision based on that.

I'm going to rattle the conversation, and offer a plus two application from 14" to 16" wheels. 205/55/16 front, and 225/50/16 rear. Perfect fitment on my CSi. Cheers

We have 205/55/16 on the fronts
And
Rears are 225/55/16....55 instead of 50, the height of the tyre reduces the gap between the tyre and wheel arch....
this makes it a better looking car at the rear and all round , that's my opinion

Have run, Yokos, Kuhmos and now running Sumitomos (HTRs?) and been very pleased. Good performing tire and great bang for the buck (IMO). Those Pirelli's look fantastic.

If only we could have all the tires in one place to try out in a 'controlled environment'

A period road test (Motor Sport Feb ‘73) states the 7x14’s wear 195/70’s on the front and 205/70’s on the rear. Pirelli CN36.

Does anyone run this combo? Kind seems like you would get a staggered look, and in the Pirelli CN, this setup would be roughly $200 cheaper? Thoughts?

For shipping I used this for my rims and had a very positive and in expensive experience. This site also give you idea of how much to ship

To take this a step further and out of the E9 category, I have 15" tires on my E30 that will need replaced in the spring.
Any thoughts here?
