I'm in the final stretch of getting my '73 Bav Automatic running.

A few months back, I sourced what I thought was the correct radiator, from Champion cooling https://shop.championcooling.com/1972-1973-BMW-Bavaria-SKU-6974?search=bavaria, but it does not have the required transmission cooler.

I can feasibly have the existing radiator rebuilt, but am entertaining the idea that someone here might want to part with an extra they may have. Perhaps wishful thinking.

I'm located in Northern Dutchess County, NY.

If 95608 doesn't have one, I think I still have the original radiator from my 72 3.0 CS that was pulled when I did my five speed swap.

i have one in my garage that was removed from my 2800 csa. the radiator still worked when removed but the transmission cooler hasn't been used in years, but i would think that if it was all cleaned properly it would be fine. i posted it for anybody who wanted it a while back for a donation to the forum and the cost of shipping. that offer still stands for you if you want it.

I will confirm tomorrow, but mine is an NOS Behr unit and I am way out in California .
Looks like you have a couple of options that are much closer and certainly less expensive being offered so don't feel like there is an obligation . Will keep you posted .

here are pics - its not NOS, but its a Behr / BMW unit and its from a car with a/c

This unit works for the automatic with the friction clutch.
As long as you have that you are good.

It would not work for the newer visco. I did the swap to visc on my '71 and installed the newer part: 17111121296.

Is this year specific? This is for my' 73 Automatic, which has the orange fan. Was the orange fan ever used with the visco type assembly? If not, then safe to assume mine has the friction clutch.

Will check my storage over the weekend . I think it is this one. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/partxref?q=17111121296

Thank you all for the quick support! Another forum member reached out to me via PM, similarly. I'm confirming the fan type compatibility. If it turns out not to be the right fit, I'll contact @Ohmess and @rsporsche to discuss, re: compatibility & proximity shipping benefits (thanks @095608)

I have borrowed this picture from the German E9 Forum:
the left fan (5 blades) is used with the friction clutch. The right fan (8 blades) is used with the visco clutch.

The visco clutch was introduced for the E9 sometimes between '73 and '74 -- I do not have the exact detail at hand, but it is combined with the newer style cooler, as the visco clutch needs a bit more headspace.

Thank you! Extremely helpful. Potentially useful info: I've just confirmed that my '73, manufactured in November 1972, has the friction clutch.

makes no difference to me - if you need / want it, just let me know.

when i got my coupe, it had this radiator in it, a US m30 b34 (aargh) and an e28 fan assembly no idea why that wouldn't fit with a std. e9 engine ... my new engine euro m30 b34 also has the e28 fan assembly. the real important thing is to use the fan with the correct clutch assembly. new OE e28 fans are quite inexpensive and the new fan clutch is affordable as well (many OE sources)
