Those are known as "city lights" 5w bulb.

I have the 7" Euro lights on my E28 M5 and they have city lights.
I found some Hella lenses for the coupe and now have city lights in the coupe as well. And yes they are in the outboard lenses and come on with the parking lights. Idea being if you live in a bright city with lots of street lights then you would not need the full head light illumination. Not sure this worked anywhere but it does look cool.
I also have the clear turn lenses which works well on a dark color with chrome. No yellow lenses to be seen.

And yes I'm going to go change my profile pix to show that.

Sven,

I think an H4 with city light will have four wires, lo/hi/city/ground. You wouldn't lose the hi, city taps into side marker light. And no change to stalk is needed.

With euro lights lo is H1, three wires as Don says. There is no hi beam light obviously. Unless stalk is modified like Stan says (my instructions BTW) when hi is selected, the lo beam goes out. Euro cars use a stalk that keeps lo on when hi is selected, hence the need to jumper the wires by the stalk or you won't have lo beams on with the H1 hi beams.

City lights

These are from my 69 euro coupe. See attached picture showing bulbs and these are located on outside high lights of car. The city lights come on in first position of switch.

Mine is the same.
Do you use the "parking" light term in Canada?

I had a friend that used to go nuts if someone was driving with their parking lights on. He would say, "those are for parking not driving"

BTW my low beams stay on when the high beams are turned on.
