Cut the factory spring at the blue tape mark to lower the front ride height. I’ ll post some pictures of the ”drop” tomorrow.

Carl Nelson spring on the left was too high for my liking.

Try to find a pair of BMW e12 H&R -40mm front springs, they have been available on ebay.de
The rear e12 springs wont fit the e9.

Chris, with all due respect, a modest cutting of a spring can be successful.
If you cut to much, sure problems can arise, But, I’ve cut springs on old cars, and then run those cut springs for years without problems. 2 of my classics have cut springs: GTV is cut 2/3 of a coil in the front, and my lotus 11 replica has cut springs in the rear coil overs
YMMV

I think the key here is moderation. I would not cut off more than 10-15% of length . If I needed even shorter or stiffer then I’d buy a new shorter/stiffer spring.

I had a fun job over the last couple of days, getting my glove box to fit. The issue I had was that the dash pad above the glovebox is convex , and curves in more sharply as it approaches the door pillar, my glovebox was the reverse in that it was slightly concave and protruded out by the pillar where the dash pad curved in, not exceptable!, a solid 12 hrs later, problem solved .
The glovebox construction is a poor design , The outer covering is vinel , when , with the help of a heat gun you get that off , you find what looks to be body filler, which has been applied over the layer underneath , which is a porous, roughly made dense 'sponge rubber' the filler is necessary because the rubber is so uneven . The next layer is a thin cover of metal , Then last but not least is the fiberglass, this is what forms the BOX that you can put those special driving gloves into . The Fiberglass vertical sides are where the bulk of the what strength there is, come from.
This is my third E9 , and none of my glove boxes have fitted , I would like to think that origionally they did fit ,but over time they have distorted , the constant closing process , heat? .
To fix my problem I had to move the upper ,outer corner of the glove box in about 8mm , I started by sanding the rubber to get the corner in , unfortunatly there is not enough material to sand off ,the corner would have been to thin , but it was a good start, I then flipped over the box and looked at the upper inner corner . The fiberglass box is inboard from the edge of the glovebox ,so the edge is not supported very well . Where the metal /rubber layer is attached to the Fibberglass I dug out some of the glass clamped the corner in such a way to curve it inward, then epoxied it and left it overnight .
What body filler that came off when removing the vinel I replaced . I refitted the glove box , played with adjustment on the hinge and the mount that supports the glove box latch.
Fiberglass does not bond well to metal , the rubber does not bond really well to metal, the ridged filler over moveable sponge rubber less than ideal .Wrapping it in vinel holds that abomination together.
Happy days it fits great , functions well , off to the upholstery shop.BEER TIME.

Factory springs were never red and my experience with springs that have been cut is not favorable.
Powder coating is a wonderful thing, makes old stuff look nice.

Almost everything on the car has been coated or repainted or polished or replated.

Great stuff.

Good catch, this 1974, automatic - equipped car didn’t have one.

I’ve talked to others (some say yes, some say whatever works for you) and l’m going to take a “we’ll see” approach.

Actually, I installed this a few weeks ago but finally got around to taking pictures today. I ditched the way too modern looking Alpine and replaced it with this retro Blaupunkt Bremen unit. Old school looks with everything you want.
