Congrats on your award! How can there be another BMW Classic better than your Coupe?
Track time gave me a chance to test the recent brake job. And maintain a safe distance from the M1.

I hope the members are sitting down - I washed my car today - with soap! I change my brake fluid more often than I wash my car but its going to a show tomorrow and it needed long overdue clay bar and wax. So far no rust!
And the show today in hurricane ravaged Cape Coral. Parked next to a couple who ordered their mintgruen 2002 from the factory in late 75 and picked it up in early 76 and had it in germany for a couple years before back to usa. Class winner was a restored 59 Isetta. Some cool alfas, british cars, and porsches.
I see you have met my good friend Lee Perrault & her Mintgrun 2002. She & Don moved from just outside Portsmouth NH to Cape Coral. So happy the ‘02 wasn’t lost in the Hurricane. Her Mini didn’t make.

Got reacquainted after a three month hibernation. Sun came out in Portland so I able to stretch their legs. It felt good after seeing my $20K ceiling get obliterated (2 days ago) on Rey’s 2000tilux over on BAT. Some under carriage detailing, rear sway bar install and valve adjustment coming soon.

Since I had a mechanic adjust the valves on my coupe I noticed a valve tap that seemed louder than before. When I asked he said it was normal for an m30. This was a couple of years ago. I’ve always been a bit intimidated by adjusting valves but I’d done it on my 2002 so it was time I did it on my coupe. So I found number 1 and 3 cylinders a little tight and number 5 was loose. I adjusted these three cylinders. The others seemed fine. After buttoning it up it and starting it the annoying tap was gone. I’m sure number 5 was the culprit. A Zen approach and the guide below from @thehackmechanic helped me overcome my hesitation in tackling this fairly easy, but quite necessary, procedure.

Last Thursday early morning I'm putting my last piece of luggage into the trunk ready to drive to Jacksonville for the Saturday Amelia C&C.
I opened the trunk lid halfway and leaned in with my luggage and the lid slammed down on the bridge of my metal-rimmed glasses. They cut into my nose to the cartilage and blood was everywhere. The doctor closed the cut with 3 stitches and a band-aide. Then the optician adjusted the nose pads on my glasses since they had been jammed into my nose.
I don't keep my tools in the trunk lid,and yet that lid won't stay up until it is completely in the full-up position. Gary Beck told me his trunk lid does not fall down at any open position,and there's an adjustment to the hardware that keeps the trunk in the open position. I gotta figure this one out.
Forum members who read this are now going to partially open their trunks and report back what happens--OK?

I don’t think they are designed to stay up only half way, once mine is all the way up it stays, the stops at each side can be adjusted for full up.
In my experience, it is difficult to adjust the valves to your expectation on the very first try. Or 2nd. Or 3rd. There is, in my opinion, for someone who does not adjust valves on a BMW M30 on anywhere near a regular basis, a careful, stepwise, learning curve. I am sure you know what I mean. After many attempts, not admitting to how many, I did get to that "sweet spot" where I could hear that "sewing machine" sound that is spoken about by those who do this all the time.
