Did the Gogomobil get a head start?
Well, what's ironic is I am the Gogomobil of the Inland Empire (North Idaho) group here. Almost all of them have newer M3' etc. Allan Rich's beautiful Verona 2002 w/ a S14, fully setup suspension can of course keep up (he is also a great driver). A few people know him and his car on here from when he lived in the Seattle area. Only other coupe known out here is John Barlow's of SoCal Vintage fame, but he is in Spokane, so not technically Idaho, but close enough.
I am still working on a lot of suspension parts, mostly replacing tie rods, bushings, etc. right now, getting a rebuilt brake booster and rebuilding the brake master. Probably won't be able to get to springs, shocks, sway bars etc. until next season. So, I really have no chance and would be white knuckling it the whole time, add on top of that still getting used to how it handles, not the best kept roads, whatever.
But I love that he takes the G-mobil out and hangs out with you guys. Steve mentioned if I ever visit my wife's family in Phili that we will try and make it a point to get out with the "Rocket Dogs" some day. I have been putting off visiting when she goes, mainly to hang back with the dog, but who knows, some day? If any of you want to make the drive to Spokane from Seattle or wherever, the Spokane Festival of Speed is this weekend and they are driving all the race cars downtown on Friday, race on Sat w/BMW and Porsche club there, let me know. I have rooms and garage space available. Not the world's best track, but hey, it's racing and they did just refinish the track! Weather should be nice as well.

Today I reinstalled the gas cap door after having the tank out to weld the shock tower back to a functional condition. I also did a road test! That "gas door" is really something special when it comes to testing your patience. I did the search and found the info on how to, which did me no good, might work for others and I'm sure it did because they posted it. I ended up starting first the middle nut by hand and tightened a little, then the top nut, tighten them both most of the way, then the bottom with a 1/4 drive socket. This took 3 hours, but it's done! The road test was too much fun, Korman blueprinted the engine with 3 Weber carbs etc. so It's extra fun to drive. Next is to put the trim back in the trunk, the back seats back in the car and shine it up. Probably to sell this summer~

Stan, I'm in Lovell, about 15 Miles north of Fryeburg. I just came back to the forum to try to find the correct location for the "wheel chock" in the trunk, seems I forgot after having it apart all winter. In searching the info I'm looking for I only find the Elephant skin
I keep my wheel chock in the "carrier" beside the fuel filler pipe.
Entered a Father’s Day car show at schmancy golf club near Lakeway, Texas (friend works there).
I won! Apparently just beat out a 2024 Ferrari Daytona. It was a People’s Choice event, but there were a lot of very nice cars.

Removed some “restoration” (scrap) work from the ‘90 of one of my e9 projects.
One of the next job is to make a stiff frame with the OEM measurements / distances / alignment (aiming bench?). I think I will build it myself. Very hard to find a original one from the ‘70.

Looked at Fritzie's two photos above and took a looooog insuck of breath.
It was low 90s here in Bucks County today. A good day to challenge the ac and the cooling system of my 72 Agave Bavaria. The temperature gauge never moved past 11 o'clock, I had to turn the air on low for most of the drive. Another Rocket Dog, John Moffet came with me. His 2002tii(it's a 320i system) has ac but is not hooked up or complete. For two years I have been kidding him about getting the ac working. That day is coming when he will wish he had it. Well, about two weeks ago, on another torrid day I suggested John and I go for a drive. It was in the 90s with sticky, nasty humidity. He asked if he could drive with me. Of course he could.
It is getting to the point where this old dude won't get into a car without ac.
PS: I downloaded the Subaru app for our 2022 Outback. It includes Remote Start with the ability to set temperatures. Confession: already used it numerous times. Nothing better on a sweltering summer day than to get into a car that has been sitting in the sun for a couple of hours and find the inside temperature is 63 degrees. Down 40 degrees from 103. The photo below was taken when the temperature was 74 degrees.

Dusted the old girl down, spent the evening polishing up then headed to a show enjoying the sunnier British summer that is seemingly even rarer than a rust free original coupe. Snagged the people's choice award as well and enjoyed some trouble free motoring!
