Well at a suggestion from Don earlier in this thread I contested my UPS tariff charge which I had paid with PayPal. PayPal found in my favor and refunded the amount I had contested. We will see now if UPS tries to recollect but at least now they aren’t holding my money hostage. Here was my complaint info and their response:
What I wrote in my complaint - this was for about $1400 worth of items from W&N, who at least has been good about writing every HTS code for each item in the receipt they send:
The HTS code is indicated for each item and the total tariff should be the item cost x the tariff rate for that HTS code as noted at
https://hts.usitc.gov/ plus the UPS handling fee. I am willing to pay the correct amount once there is an itemized receipt from UPS with each line item noted. Currently the charge was made as 50% of the total cost with no invoice from UPS, just a flat 50% charge, which is incorrect by the current tariff rules
Correct amount:$233.96 USD
