I fixed that annoying defrost switch that would not stay off. Hardest part was getting it open. This was an issue for me since I use the switch to turn on and off my auxiliary electric fuel pump which I only use to prime the system if the car has sat for a long time.

It looks like an Opel Manta to me. I am unfamiliar with the GT/E badging. My father was not a car guy, but he had an Opel Gt when I was a small child. My memory of the car is him telling me he had to get rid of the car because of me. He was a great dad...

It's an Opel GT. The Manta was not as sleek, didn't have the pop up headlights.

Beautiful little car. If I was able to get in, and that is doubtful, I would need a hoist/sling to get out.

Sorry Steve, the green Opel in the picture above is a Manta for sure, not a GT.

Funny, that is the reason my Dad said to me about his Porsche 356 SC. "Once we had you kids, I had to sell the Porsche." I won't give you my reply, it got me in trouble for sure. I think when I was told that, he deep down knew he made a grave mistake, especially for how much he sold it for. Had to blame it on someone else though I guess.

that's a familiar thing - selling a cool car when you have kids. the first new car i bought was an '82 twin cam Supra ... sold it 3 years later when my son was born. but, i bought a '73 Bavaria and a '79 528i ... so not a bad trade

After painting the engine bay, put the window sprayers back on with fresh tubing. Spent some time getting my window sprayers to shoot through the hood grills. Ended up tying a string to the turn signal so I could pull it from outside the car to figure out which way to angle the heads. In the end I was successful! Was an amusing job. Made me laugh when I had one of them shooting up over the windshield, which would have been great for tailgaters.
