2800 Restoration Thread

You go away forever and come back with 9 pictures!?!?

We will all have to come see you on the grass in August!

Nice - really nice looking car!

1972 Olympics in Munich is significant for 3 reasons.
The BMW 2002 Elektrik, battery powered '02 used during the Marathon.
The first & last Olympic Road Rally. With the first purpose built BMW 3.0 Group 2 CSL, a favorite, @BMW Pete (my photos from 2016)
The third reason was the worst & heinously nefarious violence.

Not to hijack HBChris' restoration thread, but I have question for adawil2002:

Your photos.. Is the car with the M-AH 1072 license plate the '72 Werks Olympia rally car? (I think it is.)

BMW Pete was giving me a bit of historical education after I purchased & read the Unbeatable BMW book by Jeremy Walton..

Pristine Polaris Beauty.

Chris, the chrome wheel arches you sold me are mounted and, as with your 2800, are a subtle delicate addition. And since I am writing about chrome, I wish my '72 Bavaria had the paired chrome vents on the B pillar instead of the long slot.

Finally, I went a tad rogue and added the chrome "handle" strip that sits below the trunk button/lock on your car. Exclusive to the 2800/2500 '68-'70 models.

The grill badge is special in so many ways.

Steve, The early e3 C Pilar faux vents are plastic and always painted body color. Plated chrome plastic would have been a nice addition.

Chris, agree about the plastic as a nice addition. Even better if they had been functional. "Form follows...." So how does your 2800 vent? I can't see the slots I have on mine.

Steve, It has vents under rear window where the parcel shelf cover raises up a bit and it has matching vents under the rear window that exit to the trunk just outside the trunk rubber seal.
