1971 2800 Sahara

Awesome, thanks for the video! Sounds wonderful, love it!!! It's a great reminder of 40 year old memories of triple 45 DCOEs and the Korman built engine in my Bavaria. :)

After picking up from muffler shop, they did a fine job for $600.

Carbs are still popping a bit. I fear small vacuum leaks.
I figured out the redline though.
User error of course. Had the rev limiter set at 5500.duh.
Using 123 software and the iPad, it looks like the tack is not entirely accurate and certainly not the speedometer. Ordered a new cable, but it might be the gauge. I hear some clicking in there at high revs.
Otherwise it runs like a bad out of hell. Jumps right to 6500 when you hit it. Not quite as frosty as the 2002, but it gets there plenty quick, just not used to driving the big six.
Exhaust sounds nice, got the bong installed for the fuel air gauge, but it’s still plenty loud from the front end, if you know what I mean, and I’m sure you do, may need that box, specially, after my wife takes a ride;)
Drives mostly straight and I set the tow-in with some plates, but I don’t think it looks right. Is it possible to align the steering yourself or does it take professional help?

I stringed my wheels for an alignment good enough to get me to a proper alignment shop - they can get it within the margin of error listed in the manual.

Been away from the Project since late October, travel, Holidays with family in Louisiana and frankly the snow in Park City is not quite there yet. Anxious to get back and work out the bugs, but really can’t drive it till March, snow and salty roads not good.
Also fell into a new/old project. I purchased this car in 1989 from original owner. Well kept but needed redoing. Daily driver till the twins came along in 92. Sold to my father in law who asked me to supervise complete restoration, at his expense !! Body off repaint, engine, transmission Bosch FI rebuilt In 93-94. Stored and driven maybe 1000 miles since. He is now 87 and decided to divest himself from surplus vehicles. So I have it back. Needs sorting, seats and just going through. Going to Utah to join the BMW’s of the same period and same year as the agave 2800.

Should say it is going be odd working on an old German car for which EVERY nut, bolt, trim and mechanical part is available from Stoddard.

I’m not sure Winnie would be happy after 26 hours of driving.
