1971 2800 Sahara

My gosh I just stumbled across your thread, I am grinning from ear-to-ear after reading through!

Visited shop on Monday with my daughter who asked me to pose next to the car. Inside of doors, trunk and hood are painted and finished. You can see them inside the car. The finish looks great for interior unseen parts. Next will do the inside of the car and underneath and attach doors, hood, and trunk. Slow but steady wins the race I’m told.

Instrument cluster: cleaned, replaced, bulbs, polished electrical contacts and replaced little colored
Plastic things I got from WN. Last thing probably not necessary. Tried fitment in new one-piece dash,no problem.

Your patience and attention to detail is inspiring, I have neither, so my engine rebuild and compartment detail project is going to test both and I need to remind myself to follow your and others here methodology.

Once you get into it, it’s hard to stop, at least for me. Too much of a clean, neat freak.(owe those traits to one Gunnery Seargent Walker, USMC.)
Don’t tell anybody, but I also reset the odometer zero. Bit of a pain in the ass but I figured why not.

It,s getting there. I apologize for the piecemeal presentation but that’s how it’s being fed to me. I have to lift it and paint the underside and then we can finish.

Yesterday I stopped by Jim Rowe,s Metric mechanic shop in the great metropolis of Richland, Missouri on my way from Utah to louisiana(and no, it’s not on the way and added a couple hours to the trip).Unbelievable operation he’s got going there. making his own pistons, rods, fly wheels, and other assorted, mechanical devices, reproductions and many things of his own design, including his differential innards.
Purpose was to fold, to pick up transmission and differential, but primarily I wanted to the wanted to ensure that my 3700 Rally motor was indeed going to be built by October. We ran into some problems with the core and then the Pistons, etc. so I got bumped out of his earlier M30 production run.
Going togo with his pistons, but not the rods is it really bumps up the price a bit, but I’m still considering it. I have to say his Pistons and the rods are things to behold. Just beautiful work. Jim’s going on 80 but he keeps coming up with ideas and developments and things to make with his CNC machine.
I was able to pick up my transmission, which is his ultimate four-speed. I did not go with a five speed as I’ve got enough on my plate rebuilding an entire car. I put his five speed in my 2002 as it is already been converted and I almost never use fifth gear. The differential gearing will make up some of the difference for off the line and Highway cruising. it will also save me from dealing with the driveshaft and other five gear retrofit issues. The transmission is just beautiful and gives me hope that I’ll have this thing together one day.

I posted in another thread about the Weibo, a word, apparently unknown to Google voice, and you can see from the pictures we change the rear flange to a thinner one. After the flange change, it was maybe a millimeter shy of stock.

The E3 non AC console is the best

I can't wait to see it installed. What color are the seats going to be?
I’m pretty sure I’m gonna go with your color, Rust? In vinyl. The vinyl for the seats is not bad but they want $1400 for a set of door panels to match. I’m still undecided on the carpet color not sure about charcoal or the brown.

Yeah, I decided not to put the AC back, pain in the ass and it doesn’t work that great and you’re right the non-AC Consouls looks the best. I’m in the mountains of Utah at 7000 feet, who needs AC? It’s why I moved there.

I sourced the black lamb skin leather (very nice) from Springfield leather. 4 sq feet for $17 dollars. About the only thing on the whole project I saved money on.

I might be considering black or charcoal interior. It would look great with the green of course, and maybe do better with the wood.
