Actuator is mounted on the driver side below where the battery tray was, before I removed it.

Trick stuff.

Fake leather was removed from the top of the console door. Console door had a crack. Crack has been filled and reglued. Leather will cover the top.

Mounting bracket is cut in half and bent upward so that the console will fit correctly (right height) against the existing shifter console.

A little bit of trim off the front of the console to make it fit flush against the existing shift console.

Parts suggested by B machine.Thank you, B.

Center console is from an E23 It will require a handful of modifications, some repair, and new leather for the top console armrest.

All the foam stuff has been cut, and I was going to lay some leather over the top .surfaces.

But I think I’ve changed my mind and I’ll add some metal plate, engine turned to match the dashboard.

Center console installed. I used the fuzzy side of some wide Velcro strips ( 3strips) as the base.

Alternately, I ordered and cut a piece of metal turned plate that can be used as the bottom of the console area.

Thanks again to Bmachine and his suggestion to use the console unit from an E 23car. The unit needed a few modifications, and the top armrest area had to be recovered with new leather.

A fun, easy project.

Next project, Cruise control. The hardware was removed from an e30.

Noticed the cruise control stalk to the left of the steering wheel. Its been installed.

Of course, there were several modifications to get it into place.

The plastic cover on the underside of the steering column required some cutting and fitting in order for it to go back into place.

Cruise control cable bracket fabricated and installed. Next, tack a cable bracket to the throttle lever.
