1975 Pastell Blau 2.5 CS

Can you confirm your build date, I thought the last e9s were built in June of 1975. Could it be 3/10/75 which BMW lists as 10/03/75?

Yes. Of course Chris.

The number of 884 cars includes 244 with automatic gearbox.

Was the one of the latest E9 produced? o_O

Thank you! One of the last 23 automatics made.

Fenders off, repaired, refitted, including hood reinstalled, and aligned. That is great to watch and amazing progress. Your Coupe sure is lucky to have found this new home!
Keep the updates coming.

Thanks Mate...
was good to get it all lined back up, but that was really just the first stage, now the real strip down starts.

I had to keep the car more complete for longer than I wanted to while I made some space at home for the full disassembly...
Those who have done this know just how much space a car takes up when it comes fully apart !

I've submerged myself even further into the abyss with multiple cars at different levels of stripped and boxes on top of boxes of bits and pieces getting mixed up and the pain of spending an hour trying to find that one Bolt...

Even with extensive photo taking, labelling and storage of everything we all still have the most simple things sometimes slip through the net......

For Example;

Horns !

Where the hell do the horns mount ??

Somehow I have no pic with the grills out and horns in place, I'm assuming somewhere in front of the radiator but I don't want to just guess.

Like I said - The simplest of things !

For anyone getting stressed by the above pic,

Don't worry they aren't going back on the car looking like that !

Refurb / Deep Clean first of course...

okay moving forward on the catch up we are on to some bodywork and paint prep..

I was soon approaching a stage that I knew would be hugely rewarding, but at a cost.. blood sweat and tears here we come

While she was still on wheels and easy to move around we took the opportunity to start the outer body prep, my good mate Glenn was heavily involved with this and made some quick progress.

The condition of the body work was very pleasing, I was over the moon with just how straight it all was and the lightest skims of filler here n there was all that was required

Nice to see your car in on a way to be driven.

I was told once putty should not to be applied on bare metal as it has acid like PH and what is even more it is hygroscopic. As a result it is making a rust source under the paint of potential bubling. I still expetriencing many body shops doing the same over years.

I have had a "pleasure" to discover such a hidden (under paint) rust. It ended up in removal of the whole panel...

But maybe this is some new super generation of putty which can be applied directly on a steel. I hope so for you.

Connector with a plug is a diagnostic socket. It was used at BMW Service to check basic electric parameters related to starting, running and charging.
