Here are recent finished photos, including a couple with the car's younger cousin. There are a few open items that need tending and I'll be looking forward to using the collective wisdom of the board to sort them out.

Very, very nice!! Love that color!

The rear license plate is going to have plenty of light on it.

More interior shots please.

congrats

Thats a great result, the car looks superb.
I agree the stance of the car is exceptional also.
a couple of questions about the parts used:
what suspension componentry have you used?
what brake system have you used?
what steering wheel is that?

and of course, where did you get all of these lovely bits?

Thanks

Chris

Beautifully DONE! One of the best looking one here! Had to show the wife what we could do with alittle more cash? The only thing I would add is passenger mirror to balance the look but not trying to take anything away from the outstanding work you have achieved.
Thanks for all the posting and keep them coming!

Thanks for the nice comments. I will answer the questions that I can, but because the PO restored the car, I don't have all info or may get some wrong.

1. The springs are from Carl Nelson
2. The steering wheel is a Nardi
3. The wheels are from Peter at Coupe King
4. I don't know what the brake components are or where they were sourced.

In terms of next steps for me, the car is still carbed and I'm thinking about upgrading to 1.3 motronic FI. There are a number of nitpicky items that could be improved but aren't urgent. They include door alignment, several interior trim bits, non-working radio and a squealing ventilation fan.

I will post additional interior pictures shortly.

Car was running rough upon it's arrival but was to be expected as it was coming from high altitude.

With the help of Don Lawrence we diagnosed that the car has "issues" with the engine. Most of the problems were with the carbs and electronics although we're not yet certain that we know the whole story.

In any case, rather than fussing around with the carbs and older electronics, we've decided convert the car to 1.3 motronic and hop up the performance at intake, cam, and exhaust while we're at it.

Don will be able to chime in with more detail for anyone who wants to know about the components that he's putting into the car.

Beautiful car that will be seeing an upgrade to Motronic 1.3.

1973 car will have a 1979 block with 1981 intake manifold with 1987 head with 1989 ecu and wiring harness.
Vanagon style injectors and Saab fuel regulator :p

M90 engine 218 stock hp will get the schrick 284 cam, and a serious port and polish.
Choice of Dinan or Turner chips.
Choice of c-tubes. 320i long tubes for torque and stock short tubes for high end.

The new Coupe King Stainless exhaust with M30 B35 manifolds.

Upgrading the ac to 1988 condenser, 1990 aux fan
Upgrading headlights to fused, relayed low beams with direct connect to alternator .

Leaving the body alone needless to say......

red goop...
Machinists always think they have to prepare something that won't be used for months..
Head was placed this afternoon and engine will be running by Wednesday.

HP with combo setup

With the specific combo set up you describe (block, head, cam, porting, exhaust etc), what can one reasonably expect in the HP department? What is the drivability of such an overall set up?

Reasonable to expect 280 hp.... That is with a Turner or Dinan chip.

Drivability is nice- you need to pay attention and drive like an adult. :p

cam

AS an alternative, and instead of a Schrick and for the same price, I'd suggest calling Paul Burke and getting one of his custom street cams.
