Barney’s Baikal Blue coupe refresh

There is fastener store near me, Hillco in Garden Grove, that has stainless screws and the cups which I bought separately. Ace Hardware didn’t have the cups but they have had everything else I have needed.
Thanks Chris, I will look them up. I bought screws (can't find them now), but the washers were not available from BelMetric or McMaster-Carr.

Are these what you are looking for?
Google "tinnerman countersunk washers"
Thanks Dan, I believe the tinnerman type washers have a wider flange than the OEM, whish is more of a taper that is just slightly wider than the screw itself. I believe what these are are "flush finish" washers, but finding the right size is the trick...

A #6 is the size you need, they worked for the skinnier screws (#4?) that hold the board between the wheel arches as well as with the #6 screws holding the floor board over the tank and also for the tail panel cover.

Hi Barney, Did you use BMW "trim rings" or did you find a new source?

In my coupe all but one of the plywood floor screws and trim rings (concave washers) were removed. The BMW parts book (page below) identifies a part number 51 41 7 570 111 for the "hollow washer, and they appear to be available, but curiously expensive at about $3.62 each (assume this per item) from BMW or ECS tuning. I am interested to know if you found a substitute.

from belmetric.com I use them for most fasteners as they have all available in yellow zinc

Driver seat ready today, but we are off for two weeks in Spain….

My friend the professional mechanic has been working on my car while we are away and he’s making great progress… finished up the under dash work and installed the center console. His help is greatly needed as I’m down to one arm and I’m having rotator cuff surgery on 14 June.

Back to work on the coupe in a week…
Travel safely, we'll miss you at the Vintage.
Love that whole area of Spain...mostly the food. The paella and even the sangria (not much on fruity stuff) are wonderful. If you make it to Valencia, don't eat the eel..pretty gross. Local delicacy tho...Had my only ride in a V-12 850 there...flying through town.
Too bad its so dry; and gotta have water to make rice. Take care.

My friend the professional mechanic has done wonders in the two weeks we were away In Spain, He has completed installing the front seats/glove box/driver side under dash panels/completed the center console/the sunvisors/finished up the radio with Bluetooth set up/finished up the switches for the electric windows And my coco mats arrived. With the help of my friends, I believe we will actually finish this car in the near future, we plan on shipping the coupe to San Francisco in mid August for a trip up the West Coast to Canada…

Barney- you are attending Legends of the Autobahn?
Don, our plan at this time is meeting up with BMW Classic club group in Napa valley/Sonoma area on the 18/19 depending on how it all works out… the 14th will be 10 weeks since rotator cuff surgery for me…

Well today was the day I’ve been waiting for! First tank of gas and 25 miles on the coupe this morning with no problems… still waiting on door cards and seat head rest to be finished at the Upholstery shop… I have an air condition specialist coming on Tuesday to charge the AC system.

Took the coupe out this morning for a 60 mile plus run on my favorite 2002 loop with no problems. Going to change out my first oil in a little bit with 112 miles on It. My new goal now after substantial completion will be too put as
C9798646-2118-4630-A5BF-82F9CDE09797.jpeg
many miles on this coupe as possible.
