Best way to sell e9 these days?

Yes, when I imported the car '85, it had a new paint job that hid, but did not fix, rust in that lower fender area. After some Bay Area rain, a sizeable rust spot appeared. New metal was welded in and the car received its current paint job in '91.
 
I just checked and saw some minor evidence of rust behind the 2 "glove boxes." I recall that in '85, during the conversion process to US standards, we met with a trusted body man who looked at the car with an eye to rust intrusion. His verdict was the car was worth keeping since the rust was not extensive enough to warrent a panic sale. On the bright side, rust needs moisture to grow and the car doesn't get a lot of exposure to moisture.

Yes, after seeing the drivers wheel well we were worried there could more hidden rust, such as inside the door panels, etc. But we decided the best bet was to keep the car since the rest of it wasn't bad.
 
In addition to the great advice already given, spend a day on that engine bay. Get the pine needles/dirt/leaves out of the bulkhead area and use some Simple Green, water, and elbow grease on everything under the hood (as well as door and trunk jambs and spare tire well). It will pay off big time.
 
sell it on BAT. imo, that's the best place to sell a car.

actively manage the questions and highlight objectively all what is needed on the car. comprehensive photos are also very important. good luck.

BaT is certainly the most active site. I'm wondering, though, if selling locally would simplify things.
 
i think posting a price here is a good thing and has the highest potential draw with zero money going to any 3rd party. it cost you nothing to post here. i would post as many good pics as you on a thread in the For Sale section. if you get any work done to it, add that to your listing. that being said, if a seller would like to donate a small amount to e9coupe ... it would be much appreciated.

if anybody is selling an excellent car, you have options - BaT, an auction house or a consignment dealer / seller.

I just got an offer of $22,500, so it's going in the right direction.

Out of curiosity, has anyone who has made an offer actually seen the car in person?
 
In case anyone is wondering, Facebook Marketplace produces a lot of responses. I've heard from 21 potential buyers since posting the ad this morning. Will show the car to a couple of them tmrw.
 
So, Taylor- thanks for the info. I think it's best to offer your car for sale on this site- it has the greatest chance for a successful and long life :). That being said, I t would be good to pick a price and offer it up. All the posting around may get you many offers, but they'll all be similar, and it seems like it's a lot of work for the same outcome, plus, our little community is full of very decent folks who won't jack you around, and this forum does discourage bidding as there are no fees either way. Just my 2 cents- Again, thanks-
