It’s bin a while since my last update, but again some progress the last few months.
I have my engine finally back, it is really an amazing engine to watch given its potential and how ‘fresh’ it now looks like!
Took a bit longer due to issues with the oil pump. Needed to source several and the oil stick did go through the hole because I use a e24 style oil pan. And because the rubber stick guide is not available anymore we made something ourselves.

Refurbished also some parts, like the rear axles, clutch slave cylinder, window lifters, heating unit/radiator and fan like Eric also described in his DIY post.
