I see a lot of old posts about which year Getrag 265 is needed for the conversion to e9, but in my case I would be going from 4 to 5 speed not from automatic.
So do I still need to look for a '80-'81 528 or '82 528e with mechanical speedo drive attachment or will later ones work because I can use the speedo parts from my 4 speed (I read that 4 and 5 speed speedometer drive parts are the same)? If so, which additional years are applicable in my case? Or is there a cutoff where the casting is changed and no drive parts will work?
Any one have a nice quiet low mile 265 available?
I'd consider rebuilding one in my spare time but due to the tools required (I don't have a 15 ton press lying around) and cost of the innards that looks impossible unless DeQuincey somehow does a tutorial :grin:
