help, transistorized ignition, original BOSCH

so, here is the result of the test

setup:

new points Bosch at 0,38mm result in a 36 deg. dwell angle

new plugs NGK iridium (perfect behaviour, resistive plugs are NOT a concern in my case)

Bosch TZ box + coil + resistor 0,4/0,6

started well, warm engine and fix a bit advance at 1700rpms (vacuum disconnected) until ball in window

reconnect vacuum and synchro carbs at 12kg/h at 900 rpms with a 2,8 %CO

ready to go

next day:

starts perfect from cold, warms up faster, and idles smooth at 900rpms, exhaust smoke is leaner (less smell) and colder

absolutely much more responsive, quick response to accel foot, surprised, eager to climb in rpms until cut off

drives smoother and faster

in traffic lights stays at 900 rpms Sharp

fantastic !

That is pretty conclusive and factual. William Shockley did well in inventing the transistor.

That's impressive, the recovery time on the transistor is practically nothing compared to the condensor. Very healthy looking spark pattern!
This post is absolute proof that although all of our brains mostly look the same, there are two unique, distinct, totally different ways that they function. After three pages of what to this college English teacher is incoherent technical gibberish and incomprehensible drawings, I propose we raise our glasses to originality and follow up with the five minute installation of a Petronix system. And then deQuincey can continue his quest. Don Quxiote-like.

The pulses with the transistorized setup will produce much less interference into the AM radio that DQ's car does not have...

"incoherent technical gibberish and incomprehensible drawings ...":) and this is nothing compared to some guys that even went to visit the moon...:)

Don Quijote saw giants:
"Those you see over there," replied his master, "with their long arms. Some of them have arms well nigh two leagues in length."
"Take care, sir," cried Sancho. "Those over there are not giants but red fans"
